I thought this look was a dress for SEVERAL HOURS. Until I looked up at this moment and said, "wait. ARE THOSE PANTS?" They are. They are pants.

Do I wish this whole thing was a gown? Maybe I do. Am I sort of jazzed that Meryl DID THIS? I am. Am I happy to see Javier Bardem? Always.

VERY dramatic. Take that, Karl.

[Oscars: Meryl Streep Rocks Elie Saab Dress Over PantsWell. Meryl had a crazy weekend. First, she had this insane waxwork revealed, and that had to be unpleasant. Then Karl Lagerfeld announced to everyone that Meryl had been planning to wear a custom Chanel ensemble to the Oscars until someone else offered her more money to wear their design, and Meryl was like OH NO YOU DIDN'T and Chanel had to backpedal furiously. Meanwhile, at home, I assume Elie Saab is like, "BUT WHAT ABOUT MY DRESS OVER PANTS?" I have to confess, whilst I am not a lover of the Dress Over Pants in general...Meryl looks kinda great in this. I'm impressed. \[Photos: Getty Images'![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2017/02/gettyimages-645703974_master-1488225499.jpg)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/oscars-meryl-streep-rocks-elie-saab-dress-over-pants-02-2017/)
