I guess the back is supposed to be... angel wings? It is not for me. It is a little Where The Wild Things Are, and not in a way that I embrace.

Elle Fanning

While I don't love the patchy execution of the top, necessarily, or how it attaches to the skirt, this does at least feel like a fitting nod to the theme for a girl of Elle Fanning's age. The eye makeup is CRAZY UNFLATTERING but since it's also of a theme, I'll let it pass. I wish someone had done it in a way that wasn't also a little scary, but what can you do? Punk was scary sometimes.

Jaime King

Jaime here just announced she's pregnant, although obviously because she's Jaime King she still looks totally normal. I do wonder if the suit was a late switch because of that, though. It's not so much thematic, but it's also not hideous. I would've scrapped the crown... really, I am not going to complain about this. It's not unflattering, it's got a pleasing darkness to it that fits the punk thing, and everybody loves a fetus. Also: She could TOTALLY pass for Elle Fanning's Secret Mother, right? Besides being a little young for it. Nicholas Sparks should get to writing a movie for them. Imagine the tears and cancer and amnesia and car accidents and Other Scenes Set In The Rain!

Met Ball Fug or Fine Carpet: The Fannings

First, I realize Jaime King -- here featured -- is not a Fanning, but since I just realized she and Elle Fanning look a LOT like each other, I've decided to make her an honorary one. Like maybe she's the "distant cousin" who is secretly Elle's mother due to an EastEnders-style scandal in her childhood. Anyway, on the heels of Elle's Fug Madness run and Dakota's surprising ability to continue being under our radar despite not being above reproach EITHER, let's take a look at these three Fannings, real and otherwise.
