Yet again, Marion seems to be the most favored child. Jennifer looks terrified that hers is going to drop right off her nipples.
This is definitely the more interesting of the two outfits. I love the hit of yellow on the skirt, but a flash of canary may not be enough to make the rest of the color scheme sufficiently interesting. One neutral is enough, but this is two -- a flesh tone and a baby pink -- that seem to resent each other enough that a hit of highlighter (which ALSO doesn't complement them, nor clash enough to be pleasantly jarring) isn't going to save it. And the houndstooth shoe is super, but perhaps not with this. Basically, I appreciate where it was trying to go, but there are a lot of ingredients in this stew that aren't melding harmoniously.
I really hoped Jennifer, with her total coolness, would've been able to carry the theme. Dior really kind of napped on this night. The veil is nice and dramatic, but NOTHING about her affect suggests she's pleased about having to wear any of this. It's a bad length on her, especially with the stripper shoes, and it sits in a weird place and... this is a girl who has the confidence to sell Major Dresses that would swallow other people whole. So why is she getting this? Perfectly Fine is not what the Met Ball is about, even if you choose to ignore the theme, and seriously, was Dior not paying attention to how well she sold that Oscar gown? Boo, dudes. BOO.
