So, this is a minidress from the Spring Couture show, but she's carried the stripes down onto her legs and made a matching cane. I'm guessing it's Pride-inspired, and I have to say, it's CRAZY and I think it fits the theme perfectly.

I don't understand the headpiece? It reminds me of when Miley was designing Jeremy Scott's accessories out of old junk she found lying around. But I have to give credit to Cara for being able to model the hell out of it through both that AND the orange stripe on her face.

Priyanka Chopra in Dior

This was a surprise too -- Dior really embraced the fun of it this year. She looks a bit like Elizabeth I meets the Queen of Hearts meets Game of Thrones. I am sure NONE of those were her references, but this ensemble is oozing flourishes.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas in Dior

And Nick is her waiter.

Would James Bond tuck his pants into his boots, Richard? WOULD HE?

Gisele Bundchen in Dior

Gisele basically never does the theme, does she? Not even the year she co-hosted. This is nice enough, although it is doing unexpected things to her chest. As if it's glued there sort of painfully.

She did work the skirt, though, and rather expertly at that. And at length. So much twirling.

with Tom

She also worked Tom Brady a lot. They canoodled every time they stopped for a photo. Nothing gets these two friskier than a good ol' Met Gala.

Anna Wintour in Chanel

Anna looks like she always does. I GUESS you could argue that she might not have worn the big feather shawl if it weren't a camp theme, but... I mean, she wears Chanel almost every year, or so it feels, and it always looks lovely on her, and it rarely feels like it's 100 percent wholeheartedly thematic.

Kristen Stewart

This would have worked better for the punk theme.

Tessa Thompson in Chanel

Tessa's crew turned her hair into an ACTUAL LATEX-COATED WHIP. Bo Peep's sheep had best turn up QUICKLY.

Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel

That feels more Versace to me, and also not remotely on-theme, though it fits immaculately.

Penelope Cruz in Chanel

And I'm not even sure WHAT is happening here. That bow sits right on top of her boobs, which creates such a strange silhouette. It's aiming for glamour, and missing, and DEFINITELY well left of camp.

Gal Gadot in Givenchy

She apparently still hadn't decided between two outfits as of 2 p.m., which is right about when the carpet opened. This also feels very much like a leftover idea from last year's Catholic Imagination theme, from the angelic look of the dress to the headpiece.

Maria Sharapova in Givenchy

I am not sure that's campier, so much as fuglier.

Met Gala 2019: Chanel and Dior and Givenchy, Oh My
It's a French theme.
