I hope Queen Celine got to keep this and will whip it out at various Vegas shows on her schedule. Or even just to wear around Paris during her summer break. She DOES love to dramatically emerge from hotels in Paris and this would be perfect!
Oscar de la Renta's folks said they were going for a Ziegfield's Follies Girls feeling last night and this DOES seem to hit that right on the mark. (I might argue that Celine Dion is camp just...as a person.)

I didn't love this when I saw it flash past me on the E! coverage, but now that I can actually see it, it's pretty great. OdlR actually sent us an entire explainer about it, which I love. PLEASE always send us the explainer! We love logistics. Ahem: "Regina’s gown is inspired by Nina Mae McKinney, an American actress from the 1930s who got her start on Broadway and was known for starring in the film Hallelujah....It’s built with double corsetry under lamé with Vermicelli sequinning, crystals and glass silver-lined caviar beads inside metallic cup sequins. The embroidery is dégradé from top to bottom and ombré from warm gold to rose gold – almost undetectably, it adds to the dimension and luster of the piece. Gold crinoline netting is framed, accordion-pleated, strip-sewn together and draped over one shoulder." Fascinating! McKinney was a trailblazer in many ways; the New York Times profiled her in their Overlooked feature and it's well worth a read.

There is a bit in the Susan Sontag essay where she notes that "wearing 3000 feathers" is camp, and A LOT OF PEOPLE took that and ran with it. (Although this is objectively gorgeous.)

Okay, so I worked 17 hours straight yesterday and am rolling on about five hours of sleep, but: While is is objectively good and right, does it also feel a little underwhelming? That might be ridiculous. But I think it's almost harder to dress someone for this when that someone once, say, dressed as an evil nun for the Grammys and brought a literal priest as her date, or once showed up at Fashion Week to sit next to Anna Wintour in an outfit covered in pom poms. Nicki already is so over-the-top that it feels challenging to build on that, perhaps.
