Not only is this dress not custom, Gemma Chan has already worn it, to another major event, albeit with the cape slightly modified! It's one thing to give your brand ambassador something previously worn, but we last saw this less than six months ago, and, again, this is the Met. The headpiece, however, is new and custom. Cynthia said, per Extra's coverage, "We’re trying to tie the American lexicon together, and this is inspired by women of Louisiana from the 1800s, who had to cover their hair for necessity… I wanted to tie those things together because those women don’t get the credit they deserve for the fashion.” She does look great.
