Vanessa Hudgens

As one of the livestream hosts -- with Hamish Bowles, and they were not a well-matched team -- she obviously hit the carpet first, so this photo (or similar) was the leadoff for Vogue's own coverage. And it lurked atop their page with a kind of menace. This pretty much nailed the sleeve shape, and Hamish tried to argue that the transparency brings it right into 2022, and... I guess he's right, but really this is "make me naked but with a sleeve puff so I can get in on a technicality."

And then her train fluffer popped out to say cuckoo.

This honestly feels like a Beavis and Butthead joint. They'd be chortling about how it highlights her nipples without actually showing them.

It looks MUCH better from the side. Pity she couldn't stand like this all day. But this is not an "I'm there to work" dress; it's an "I'm there to scurry up the stairs and get some champagne and tie up this train" look. At one point during the event, she and Hamish commented that they were very cold, and I was surprised no one threw a jacket over her shoulders. Or spotted them a heat lamp.

Megan Thee Stallion

Now I'm going from favorite to least. Megan's shoulders and head and train look SO good that I don't even care that it's the same silhouette (high slit over one leg) that she always uses.

I mean, that is truly fabulous.

I love this, too. This is... gilded, at least. A fabulous metallic bathing costume for a big musical number.

She really pulls off the hood. I also appreciate one gilded strand of hair.

I don't love the cut here, but I cannot be mad at the workmanship, which you could see from behind in that photo of Megan Thee Train. It's captivating.

This boob-look is sort of an eyeroll for me much in the way Hudgens's was, and the cloak seems annoying to carry around thusly. But as always, she brings a lot of poise to it.

Ariana DeBose

I want to like this, but it looks SO HEAVY and it makes her chest look like very expensive, overly glazed pastries.

She's clearly living it up in her moment, though, which you love to see.

It must be weird, as with Vanessa, to be the one person who DIDN'T arrive on the Moschino party bus -- or at least, she was not included in his mass interview -- and whose dress does not particularly match the rest. But the shape of it feels right to me, as do the pearls.
