Beyonce in custom Olivier Rousteing

Bey knows Olivier from the Balmain days -- he's gone now -- so she commissioned him as a solo act to make this... skeleton-themed ensemble. I would really like to know how long Olivier Rousteing believes his own spine is, and where he is putting the lower part.

Her spine got all wonked up when she walked. I think conceptually this was interesting, but in practice it didn't wholly work -- in part also to its inconsistent approach to the use of linings. And somehow in this photo it looks like she has a diaper under there.

The Family Carter

I almost called them "The Family Z" until I remembered Jay does have a last name and we all know what it is. Bey MOSTLY walked the carpet alone or with Blue, if you're noting such things, but this is a nice piano picture if she's in need of one.

Blue Ivy in Balenciaga

I think Blue looks GREAT, and is carrying that Balenciaga better than some people thrice her age could. She will someday look back and regret the tan lines, but what is being 14 if not giving yourself regrettable tan lines?

I enjoy that they can barely fit into one shot together on the main carpet. That's a lot of garment. (Complimentary.) Also, it bears noting that Beyonce's face remains fantastic.

I cannot resist a staircase shot. The cape and crown are my favorite parts of this. All hail the Queen.

BEND THE KNEE.

Nicole Kidman and Sunday Rose Kidman Urban

These two also seemed thrilled. Nicole loves an emotional support pal on the red carpet, and since Keith SURE BLEW THAT ONE, Sunday wins.

Here is a better look at the outfits. Sunday's is fun, but hear me out, what if the top part was longer and then that was it? Sadly the effect of Nicole's gown is being stepped on by all that sad lanky fake hair and her bangs in her eyes.

It's very pretty, but imagine if she'd softly pulled back her hair and gone with a deep lip.

Venus Williams in Swarovski

She looks GLORIOUS. And actually, that breastplate is full of thoughtful references -- to the Watts towers, to Wimbledon, to her parents -- and is a recreation of one used in an existing portrait. Amazing.

Did I need this photo? No. Did I love that it made her look like she was forged in fire and rising from the flames? Yes. So maybe I did need this photo after all.

No one is going to complain about a closer look here.

Anna Wintour in Chanel

It's very flappy! I really enjoy it; it’s VERY similar to what she wore to the 2019 Gala, also. I do not need quiet luxury from Anna Wintour at the Met, nor do I need her to try and out-Met everyone else, so this works. Be warned, again, that if you do not wish to engage with the night's final cohost, then you should take this exit. Otherwise...

"Let's do a waist," said the woman who has literally never NOT done one. This is a take on Madame X, although to Vogue she valiantly ignored the more pertinent (read: social climbing) angles of that reference, which perhaps Law Roach snuck past her. This dope ALSO toldVogue that she "probably lost two pounds" earlier in the day because she went to the NYFD and did their training. I'm sure they were THRILLED to have her interrupt their day so she could turn it into an anecdote that might get her some press. Maybe donate some money to the NYFD funds and leave them to their workdays?

Of the 2026 Met Gala Hosts, Beyonce Went the Hardest
Unsurprisingly.
