I will tell you straight-up that her makeup isn't my favorite. I'm not sure what it is, exactly, but it isn't that eye-enhancing on her. HOWEVER, that coat is actually really beautiful, and I think this could have stood on its own as a dress.

But then she removed it, and voila. ABS.

AND THEN, at the afterparty, suddenly her skirt was short. I'm thinking therefore that it was always a top and a skirt, constructed to look like a dress, but she could whip off the maxi and replace it with a mini. Sneaky, really. Also, it required a whole new jacket; she changed her shoes while she was at it, too.

Backing up: My ding on Maxwell sometimes is his fits. But this is pretty good, and Karla Welch -- the stylist for Karlie -- explained to Vanity Fair that it's because he literally cut it ON HER BODY. This is clever because you might THINK this was machine-cut, or something, but it's actually just a dude with his scissors and his manuses. (Manii?) It's not my usual flavor of dress, but the Met should be a celebration of construction and finishing and creativity, and I think knowing how he made it and seeing that it's polished checks all those boxes.

Finishing where we began. I decided this post should be a palindrome.
