This frock is a big no. Wrong for the event, wrong on her... given that it's made by Coach, I feel like its best shot at being RIGHT is as a handbag lining.

I don't know why Prabal is so hot for his tortured dresses at times -- his most wonderful moments to me are the ones like these. It doesn't look like a ton from the front...

But it's EVERYTHING from the back.

From one successful offspring of a renowned business person, to another. With SIGNIFICANTLY worse results.

I thought I had her in my red slideshow, but apparently not. This is... fine? Actually, it's about 100 percent better than what she wore last year, which was that demented ballerina-inspired Donna Karan.

She looks pretty, but no more so than usual -- as in, there's nothing very Fashion's Biggest Night about it. He looks like a dignitary from a small and heretofore undiscovered principality.

This is... not successful. The color is great on her but it's pulling her down somehow.

The usual. But flowier.

Ugh. Fumble. NEXT.

This is a LITTLE bit of a twist from her usual.

That coat is SO COOL, and the sheer pants are SO HEARTBREAKING.

This ordinarily would do nothing for me, but on a night where I wanted more experimentation and less defaults to netting, I'm going to applaud the weirdo silhouette.

This is not nearly as bad as her facial expression would seem to indicate.

This is very Junior Varsity, but she does look cute in it.

This all looks undercooked to me. It's slinky, yes, and that's a nice lip, but zzz on the styling and a C- for overall creativity.

This night missed Mr. de la Renta very much. While this is an interesting dress, the skirt to me is WAY too informal for this. It needed to be a true ball gown.

However, the front is certainly nice. There are snippets of things here that give me hope the next collection will not be as onerous to me as the heir's first one was. (I sympathize with how impossible that must have been.)
