These two put on quite the little play. Apparently this was the story of Law helping transform Zendaya from a little Disney star into a grown-up princess all her own, so they picked a Cinderella motif and Law made himself the fairy godmother. After they arrived, he shook his smoke-wand at her and HOPEFULLY shouted BIBBITY BOBBITY BOO (I mean, surely?!?) and then...

And they seemed to love telling their story this way. Fully lit, that gown is quite stunning. I would have guessed Zac Posen, based on that light-up gown he did for Claire Danes, but of course it's Hilfiger because she collaborates with him now. Very nifty.

Kylie -- at the last second -- apparently ordered Kris to wear one of Kylie's blond wigs. She looks more like Kim than Kylie in it. Her jumpsuit is baggy and bunchy in a way that doesn't quite work for me, but it's hard to deny that gigantic coat. That honestly might've been more on-point for last year's Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme, just because it's faintly angelic. But I will say this: Kris at least found a way to be larger than life, and arguably campy, and still not look exactly like she always does. Whereas Kimothy here...

... is serving herself. She's on the cover of Vogue this month looking like she'd just been hosed off, and I assume she planned this wet look as synergy? She said she and Thierry Mugler worked for eight months on this, and that Mugler wanted her to look as if she'd just walked up directly out of the sea, and I give him full marks for achieving that. Those do look like droplets. Kim herself is enormously campy and exaggerated, so perhaps simply being Kim works, or -- as argued elsewhere -- does leaning on your existing image negate the innate camp factor? This is why I quit being an English major. I am not terribly analytical. I will conclude this: Kim and Mugler definitely did what they set out to do, even if the aesthetics of it -- LOOK AT WET NEARLY NAKED KIM -- feel overdone.

Kylie admitted she couldn't breathe in this, which I don't doubt. It's more flattering for sure than last year's Alexander Wang monstrosity, and it's definitely VERY LARGE. She and Kendall came up with their ideas together but could only describe them as "this fun vibe." It feels very Vegas to me. Visually this isn't quite my thing but the huge purple arm bags are entertaining.

There was a lot of Marie Antoinette flavor on this night, though Lupita's was more in the hair than the gown itself. Micaela Erlanger said they were inspired by various Versace muses from over the years, and just wanted something playfully exaggerated. She looks like a butterfly and I rather love it.

There's also a really long piece about her hairdo on Vogue: "Our goal was to demonstrate the power, malleability, and luxuriousness of natural hair texture," explains Francois—who then embellished the style with empowering visual touchstones. Inspired by Lauren Kelley's self-portrait “Pickin'” (2007), which finds the artist wearing a crown of hair picks, Francois sourced a set of combs topped off with “Fight the Power” raised fists, and spray-painted them gold into the late hours of last night. Wow. I really wish we didn't have to write so many of these posts without all these details from every celeb. Some just don't come out until too long after the fact; I'm glad to have seen this one.

"HOLA LOVERS. I know that many of you think, 'Jennifer must spend all of her time lying around in piles of jewelry,' and that is not true! I only spend a LITTLE time doing that. So here I am dressed for the Met Gala the way I know you imagine me in your tiny big hearts: as if I have just coated myself in glue and then gone swimming in a giant pool full of diamonds."

Donatella's dress made me laugh. I believe it's a catsuit under the skirt. This photo in general is just... special. J.Lo looks very J.Lo, even WITH the crystal wig. I both love it and wish she'd gone in a bigger crazier less typical direction. But Donatella is camp as HELL. At least I think so.

I LOVE his ombre sparkly suit. He looks superb. Not camp -- very few of the dudes seemed prepared to TRULY nail the theme -- but fab nonetheless.
