Metallics at the 2024 Oscars

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski

Someone on Twitter pointed out that Emily's look gives the vibes that she's got tighty whities on over her dress and now I cannot unsee that. And one of you in the Oscars live chat compared her straps to how when you wear a lifejacket, it sits up above your shoulders no matter how much you fiddle with it, and that's also so apt. I think this dress would be gorgeous without the undies -- we could work with the Lifejacket Situation. John looks VERY nice; his jewelry is great. Every time I see them together now, I think about that dingdong lip-reading theory that he turned to her at the Golden Globes and said "I CAN'T WAIT TO DIVORCE," as if people talk like that.

I called this "Sexy Alien" to Heather, and someone in the chat thought Florence looked like a gorgeous sea creature, and that's ALSO true. It's fun to see her in something that's not like FLOATY CAPES AND UNDERPANTS.

This woman is a true gem and she looks like such a total babe here.

Charlize Theron in Dior

This is extremely glam on her and I appreciate the vast amount of bling. There were a lot of photos where it looked like she was posing for a jewelry ad, so she must also appreciate it. (Or Dior has made it very clear that she needs to be out there pushing their fine jewelry line.)

This is obviously based on some of Dior's most famous archival work and it's LOVELY on her. (Having said that, I continue to want to see new hair on ATJ; it looks so pretty here, but I just think she could use something new for fun.)

Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig

GG looks banging in this! NB looks ...classic! Fine! Regular! (Greta perhaps could have done more...modern??...jewelry? That's a suggestion more than a complaint.)

Olivia Munn

I don't love the train here but otherwise, this is great on her. (She WAS there with Mulaney but it was hard to get a pic where you could see her dress as well as you can here. He has grown his hair out in a way I don't love, as you probably saw on the telecast, where I thought he was a little....stand-up-y.)

Tia Carrere

Someone please hold Tia's coat for her!!

Zuri Hall

This was pinchy on Zuri when she sat down in the E! chat room, but it's GORGEOUS on her standing up.

This is charming, as usual. I believe this is two Carolina Herrera gowns layered on one another on Gabrielle, and it's fun without being insane. Her face, as ever, looks amazing. Oh, right: Dwyane. He looks good!

This is SHINY. This is a bold call on his part. I don't hate it but I think it's a little...cheesy? But so might be the Rock.

Yes, Billie's skirt is a little metallic, so here we are. I actually love this on her; it's so on brand, but also nicely tailored and sophisticated. (I honestly might have argued for her to wear cigarette pants though.)

"I wish Josh Hartnett had worn a gold lamé tie" is something I just thought, and I don't even know if I DO wish that. I don't actually think that I do! The human mind continues to be a mystery.

Finally: These folks did effects on Godzilla Minus One, which I heard is GREAT and it's not currently streaming but hopefully that is soon to be sorted. They're here because THAT'S A GOLD GODZILLA. I love this! (And all their shoes have Godzilla claws on them.)
