It was the film premiere of 'Che' in Cannes, which comprises two films 'The Argentine' and 'Guerrilla', directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Benicio Del Toro, Benjamin Bratt, Franka Potente, Lou Diamond Phillips and Julia Ormond. The story explores the life of Cuban revolutionary leader Ernesto 'Che' Guevara (del Toro), who first trained as a doctor before becoming Fidel Castro's chief lieutenant. The story of 'The Argentine' begins as Che and a band of Cuban exiles led by Fidel Castro reach the Cuban shore from Mexico in 1956. They mobilized popular support and an army and topple the US friendly regime of dictator Fulgencio Batista. The second part 'Guerrilla' tells of Guevara's trip to New York City to address the United Nations and also his attempt to start a revolution among Bolivia's peasants, which ended in his death at the age of 39. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374569/

Directed by Quentin Tarantino, 'Inglourious Basterds' is a 'spaghetti western' take on a WWII film. Set in Nazi-occupied France the film stars Brad Pitt as Lieut. Aldo Raine. He leads a group of Jewish-American soldiers, known as "The Basterds", whose job it is to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theatre in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers. The film also stars Diane Kruger, Mike Myers, Eli Roth, Cloris Leachman and Samuel L. Jackson as the Narrator.
This perhaps veers a LITTLE too close to Super Fancy Nightgown.

Synopsis: A Taiwanese filmmaker makes a film based on the myth of Salomé at the Louvre. Even though he speaks neither French nor English, he insists on giving the part of King Herod to the French actor Jean-Pierre Léaud. To give the film a chance at the box-office, the production company gives the role of Salomé to a world famous model. But problems arise as soon as filming begins…
Amidst all this confusion, the director suddenly learns of his mother’s death. The producer flies to Taipei, to attend the funeral. The director falls into a deep sleep where his mother’s spirit does not seem to want to leave her old apartment. The producer has no choice but to wait, alone and lost in a strange city.
Timeless. (You may notice she often wears a watch. I support this.)
