For a morning promo stop, Kate went totally neon and bright, and I love it -- even the neutral shoe, because I'm pretty sure it has some spikes on it, and there's something pleasant to me about weaponized footwear.

I also think this is pretty funky. I remember a time when we used to ding Kate for always wearing something white/nude and Prom-y and sparkly, and so this has been a bit of an edgier junket for her. In this photo, I'm the least crazy about her makeup -- it feels like, for fear of clashing with the gown, she just didn't do much of anything. However...

... in THIS photo, I started to have doubts about the seaming that basically turns her entire lower body into a shard of fuchsia. When she was standing all lopsided, I didn't really notice, but now I can tell that it's... giving her groin a very pronounced and melodramatic V shape.

But, hey, the butt bow is artistic. Also, I'm looking at that woman in her trenchcoat, her nose buried in her smartphone, and realizing that is exactly what Jessica and I look like at Fashion Week. Or sometimes just at dinner. Smartphones are the devil. A wonderful, wonderful devil. I don't know how we did anything without them, but I also remember with fondness the time I only owned a cell phone for vehicular emergencies. Nobody knew the number outside my family, I never took it out in public... those were the days, man. Now I am powerless to the damn thing.

After that digression, back to the Beckinsale. This afterparty dress is cool, too; the top is a bit like a leather bra sewn over the outside, but hey, it's working. I love her hubby holding whatever that is, though -- do we think it was a wrap that matched her old dress, or her ACTUAL other dress, all scrunched up and ready to get chucked in the back of their car? Curious. Well, her dry cleaner will be happy to have something to do, at least.
