Live on April 13, 2014 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images for MTV) We weren't super familiar with her at this point, but we'd seen her at the Kids' Choice Awards about a week before this in denim hotpants, so the dress was an extreme relief. It would probably be cuter without the yellow block, but it's still pretty damn good. ## Rihanna ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/484665139-1587676377.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Recording artist Rihanna attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on April 13, 2014 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images for MTV) This was during a phase where Rihanna wore a lot of long garments that she only wanted closed in the most perfunctory and marginal way. ## Lupita in Chanel ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/lupita_nyongo_mtv_movie_awards_4846658531-1587676445.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Actress Lupita Nyong'o attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. FUN is for the simple, darlings. BE COMPLEX." And then his assistant was like, "Uh, I put fairy lights on my apartment balcony and that... helps?" And Karl slowly nodded. ## Chrissy Teigen ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/484657647-1587676359.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Model Christine Teigen attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on April 13, 2014 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Michael Buckner/Getty Images) At the time I noted that this looks strangely like she's angling for her own Nickelodeon show called *#Chrissy*, and I think that's about right. It's VERY "I'm 15 and it's my first formal." ## Shailene Woodley ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/484657707-1587676368.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Actress Shailene Woodley attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on April 13, 2014 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Michael Buckner/Getty Images) I don't like the knotted shirt conceptually, but this looks pretty darn good on her. ## Jessica Alba ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/484677117-1587676386.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Actress Jessica Alba attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. YES. ## Holland Roden ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/holland_roden_484664363-1587676420.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Actress Holland Roden attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on April 13, 2014 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Michael Buckner/Getty Images) Well, look. If one were forced into a putty-colored outfit, pink shoes and lipstick are a great way to counterprogram it. ## Johnny Depp ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/johnny_depp_mtv_movie_awards_484695805-1587676428.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Actor Johnny Depp speaks onstage at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on April 13, 2014 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Christopher Polk/Getty Images for MTV) I also stand behind asking MTV to please stop treating Johnny Depp like a mysterious sexy surprise. ## Kat Graham ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/kat_graham_mtv_movie_awards_484680471-1587676436.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Actress Kat Graham attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. I'm kind of into her funky outfit. ## Rita Ora ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/rita_ora_mtv_movie_awards_484664349-1587676453.jpg) LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 13: Singer Rita Ora attends the 2014 MTV Movie Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A.
