The gown is from this Givenchy show. I don't believe this exact thing appeared on the runway, but it's clearly adapted from those styles and the color palette. We've seen its distant cousins on Joan Smalls and Imogen Poots, but this one is the best version of them all. Better than what DID come down the runway, for my money. She's luminous in just about anything, but that luxe pumpkin color looks wonderful on her, and that is a phrase you don't hear often.
This angle shows how artful her eye makeup is.
AND HERE IT IS, the promised cuff. It's lovely. It was worth the wait. (For those who've asked, it's a gold H. Stern Cuff.)
I like that this clutch almost has a wood effect, as if it were carved.
Did you pass out yet? Well, you will, perhaps AFTER you finish the fan-fiction you just started writing.
I also think this is beautiful on her -- what a great color, and a bold choice to match the shoe. Also, for anyone who thought New York altered her skin tone on its cover for Nefarious (or otherwise) Reasons, as we were recently discussing, I think the juxtaposition of this photo and the NAACP awards photos -- in which her skin tone is not identical -- shows what an impact strong lighting and perhaps different makeup can have. It all supports my belief that New York wasn't doing anything inappropriate to her images, and that how she looked in those photos was a combination of all those things plus the retouching that brought out hotter tones in the photo as a whole.
This is maybe the least inspiring thing I've ever seen her in, and that's not even really a dis, because it's nice too. I wish she'd kept on the Pilotto -- she wore it there but then had this on for the actual show, I think? -- but at least she's wearing shoes with sass. I love how she does that.
