I want the pink color to be... diffferent. Less dirty, perhaps? Or another color altogether? It looked rosier in person. The whole idea is nice, though, for sure.
See? So nice when shot through with gold. And beturbaned.
Shoulder pads go on the INSIDE.
Goodness, that's lovely. One of the Disneys, like say Bella Thorne, would easily wear that.
Katy Perry? I do like it. So festive. Like New Year's Eve is in your mind, before you actually go out and realize it's usually a shitshow anywhere except in your own living room.
What I like about this is how casual it looks despite being ostensibly formal.
Oh, lord. DON'T TEMPT PEOPLE.
I kind of want Lady Edith to wear this somewhere. She could splash into color, right?
I always want to say that Halle Berry's iconic "Monster's Ball" Oscars gown was Reem Acra, but it was Elie Saab. And yet this Reem Acra looks like it's trying to capture some of that essence, which only serves to ensure my confusion.
HIDEOUS. Just kidding.
That is crazy. These asymmetrical bodices too often make people look like their bits are in the wrong places.
I am blissing out on this coat, though.
Tory is evidently going super subtle with the patterns this season.
It's sort of fun though. I mean, it's at least LIVELY.
I AM a sucker for purple.
I am also a sucker for cool prints on cocktail dresses.
I am NOT a sucker for pants under gowns. It's SO Alicia Keys 2004.
This is great. Taylor Swift doesn't wear this line, but don't you think she'd work in that?
COAT ALERT.
Marc by Marc Jacobs is rebranding itself as... wait for it... MBMJ. Marc never liked the other name, apparently, and so now he's chosen one that trips awkwardly off the tongue and sounds like something demanding a vaccine. One of his designers is Britain's Luella Bartley, who has some name recognition, but I'm not really feeling the aesthetic. As you'll see, there seems to be a shift toward something too edgy and fantastical for my tastes, and in a way that I don't really think jibes with the overall Marc Jacobs brand.
I mean, this is trying way, way too hard, and it doesn't converse with the outfit that came before it, or the next one.
That scarf is nuts, but also at least dramatic.
And then this looks like they took money from NASCAR.
Ugh.
This feels like something Little J would've done on Gossip Girl. In her early days, before all the eyeliner and bleach.
That's kind of dumpy. But it does at least feel like it has a foot in Marc by Marc and another foot in MBMJ. Rather than both feet in a pile of WHAT.
HERE IS THE PILE OF WHAT. I mean, come on. She's if Danica Patrick became a bandit.
"GRRR" is exactly how I feel.
Sigh.
I am not entirely sure how this person relates to the person who'd wear the previous getup. Maybe it's that person's more uptight older sibling.
STOP IT.
I feel like this would've been a more fun direction in which to go.
This whole thing is so much more polished, to me -- and granted, it's apples and oranges, because obviously Proenza isn't trying to achieve the same things MBMJ is. It's infinitely more soothing to me, though.
And that skirt is flat-out cute.
