This whole thing looks like Marc Jacobs spent like six really meaningful weeks in an ashram.
"Maybe I can get a gig costuming the more peaceful, suburban scenes for the new Star Wars."
This is perfect for when you go to a party at the house of your friend who is obsessed with blonde wood, and you don't want anyone to notice you. You can just get a white wine and stand against the wall silently and blend in.
You know when you go to the County Fair and you fill glass bottles with different layers of colored sand and call it art, and it's awesome because you're 11? That's what's happening here.
The Cut's piece on the show's hair and makeup indicates that they wanted the show to be "eerie and unsettling and unemotional," which is totally how I want to look when I leave the house every morning.
This is all so...understated. Marc, I prefer you derelicte and cracked out.
This is both futuristic and retro.
I guess that sweater is cozy? I NEVER see a lot of people buying Marc Jacobs proper, actually, and the truth is that I think some of this is probably MORE sell-able than his other stuff. (The truth is that I think he makes most of his real money on shoes and bags and licensing. I do LOVE an MJ bag...and this show didn't have many, which is just cruel.)
That sweater might be cozy, also.
SOMEONE will style these pants in a way that is cute.
It's not winter without nipples.
It probably says something that my reaction to this was, "THAT'S more like what I expected."
I CAN see wearing this apres ski somewhere fabulous, except for the part where I can't really ski so it's ALL apres ski for moi.
The thing about Marc Jacobs that I at least appreciate, even if I don't always like his specific designs personally, is that he is always thoughtful and has great attention to detail. He never phones it in.
I can't wait to see Kiki Dunst slouch into some party wearing this.
I do think SOMEONE will be talked into sporting one of these beaded dresses. The truth is that Marc Jacobs is not a huge red carpet line.
This is the first of his shows in recent memory where I do feel like you might be able to curl up in some of the items like a normal person.
I appreciate the delicacy of the colors.
Don't forget to recycle.
I don't even know.
Who's going to buy this? This is kind of old, right? Like, the Golden Girls would really LOVE IT.
It really ISN'T Fashion Week without nipples.
The headband is very "I just washed my face and now I'm going to bed, okay?" Nothing like good facial hygiene.
