1. Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson, to Jacksonville

Trevor was at home in this olive suit, which had pants that seemed to hit at the anklebone? I wish we had a shot of them. They were also about ten seconds off on the feed, so after his name was called and they went to show his reaction -- to news he already basically knew, but whatever -- we had to wait through ten full seconds of him staring boredly at his own TV, which made it look like he was bummed. The Jaguars did just hire Urban Meyer, who I think is a complete jerk but is at least sincerely a good college coach, so maybe they will not suck. (They also drafted Trevor's college RB, Travis Etienne, who is REALLY good but comes across small even at 5'10". Then again the Jags did really well with 5'7" Maurice Jones-Drew, so they're ready.)

2. QB Zach Wilson, BYU, to the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets

This kid seemed very nice. ESPN was like, "He is the FIRST PERSON TO HUG ROGER GOODELL AT THE DRAFT SINCE 2019," or whatever, which: dubious honor. He looked nice, but when he walked in from backstage, he strolled like a man with a wedgie. It was not the smoothest. Where is Miss J Alexander?!?

You can KIND OF see here that perhaps his pants were snug.

3. QB Trey Lance, North Dakota State, to the 49ers

Oh, Jimmy G, do we think you'll even make it the whole season ahead of this kid? He seemed SO NICE. He only played 17 games at North Dakota State, but everyone says he's a phenomenal prospect and an even better person, and he really got me when he cried after his pick. I would cry too. Of all the "bad" teams who were at a low ebb last season, the Niners have a LOT of upside, and great history.

He REALLY went in for that Goodell hug. (ESPN reminded us repeatedly that everyone there was vaccinated and tested and yada yada.)

4. Kyle Pitts, TE Florida, to Atlanta

Matt Ryan is breathing a sigh of relief, possibly, as many thought they MIGHT pick a QB here. This kid's outfit has a LOT of personality, and I mean that affectionately but not necessarily positively. You can kind of see here that he's sporting elbow patches. Is it weird that I wish the bow tie were yellow, too? Listen: It's a lot of look, and I appreciate the big swing, but ... was he trying to WILL himself to the Packers? They didn't even HAVE a pick.

A better view of the stripe on his pants.

5) Ja'Marr Chase, WR LSU, to Cincinnati

He'll get to reunite with Joe Burrow, assuming Cincy can keep Joe upright. I think his slick white suit does a LOT for the shoes, honestly, and of COURSE I'm going to get you a close-up. I'm not a monster.

I am into them. They have a high-top bowling shoe vibe.

6) Jaylen Waddle, WR Alabama, to Miami

And presumably he may have known Tua, who is running the offense now down in Dolphins country. This suit did not need QUITE so much? I'd have ditched the brown pocket for sure, and maybe thought about two brown lapels.

That's a much better look at the details. And, yes, the diamonds. (I stand by my lapel instincts.)

His shoes also brought some thunder that wasn't immediately apparent on TV. Thank you to all the gentlemen who truly DRESSED head-to-toe.

7) Penei Sewell, OT Oregon, Detroit

This is not Penei Sewell, though I wish it were. The NFL picked a fan to sit on-stage in Goodell's brown leather chair from last year's draft, which he ran from his basement. They decided to try and make the chair A Thing, but then all they did was have the person repping each team... sit in it for a while. It would have been WAY more interesting if that person had gotten to call out the pick. Please imagine this gentleman opening an envelope and announcing its contents. GOLD, JERRY.

9) Patrick Surtain II, CB Alabama, to Denver

That's a pretty sweet landing spot for PS2, who apparently ABSOLUTELY had a custom PlayStation 2 controller necklace that I don't think he's currently wearing. You can see the motif on his shoes, also. This suit... fits strangely, to me. It's the groin, Marty.

I also think it doesn't help that he seems to be carrying actual bricks in his pockets.

YOU BET I'm showing you the shoes.

10) DeVonta Smith, WR Alabama, to Philly

This guy was captioned as "Jaylen Waddle" in most pictures. I get that it's hectic out there, but a) they aren't dressed remotely alike, and b) HIS INITIALS ARE ALL OVER HIMSELF. Including on his feet.

I mean. It seems unambiguous what his initials are. Also, do not miss that he's basically wearing... a suit-robe. That waist-tie is hilarious.

12) Micah Parsons, ILB Penn State, to Dallas

I wish I had a better shot of all of this. At least I trust that these photographers were on the foot beat.

13) Rashawn Slater, OT Northwestern, to LA Chargers

"I spilled on my tie and had to borrow one and the matching mask wouldn't have worked so I got one from the production truck. Thank you for your time; I will not be taking questions."

His feet somehow look teeny in this photo.

15) Mac Jones, QB Alabama, to New England

As someone on Twitter noted, this means an Alabama QB is vying for the starting job with an Auburn man (Cam Newton). He looks fine, if uninspired, but I would love to know why he insisted on wearing his headphones. They sell them as "accessories" at Best Buy not because they are ACTUAL ACCESSORIES, Mac. Maybe he just... wanted to shut out the green room noise? Maybe he was nervous? I do think many thought he'd get drafted higher.

21) Kwity Paye, DE Michigan, to Indy

I wish we could even see this. I downloaded the photo so that I could point you to the pictures on Twitter of his suit, which was inspired by and dedicated to Chadwick Boseman and Black Panther.

22) Caleb Farley, CB Virginia Tech, to Tennessee

"This hat looks so cool with my backpack-vest!"

23) Christian Darrisaw, OT Virginia Tech, Minnesota

"SHIT THE DRAFT WAS TONIGHT?"

26) Greg Newsome II, CB Northwestern, Cleveland

A local teacher got to announce this one. What you also REALLY cannot see here, which is such a shame, is that his black-and-red suit says "BLACK LIVES MATTER" and "SAY THEIR NAMES" on the back.

30) Gregory Rousseau, DE Miami, Buffalo

"I propose they narrow the goalposts to THIS wide. If the quarterback has to hit a target this size, so should the kickers. GET READY."

I think this combination is great -- the cross is very elegant, and the tie is beautiful.

The 2021 NFL Draft Was a Snazzy One

As usual, honestly.
