I realize most people don't pop by Cannes just for kicks; you usually have a movie to promote, or a cosmetics contract paying your way, or you're on the jury -- or married to someone involved in any of the previous three areas. But Nicole Kidman being a boldface name, it just FEELS like she should have been there with a movie every single year, and yet there are long stretches where she apparently wasn't. Which is fine! So while there aren't as MANY gowns as I imagined there would be when I first started digging, when Nicole does go she tends to stay a spell. So yeah, there are some empty years, but then we get 2013 -- when she was on the jury -- and 2017, when she was just everywhere. So let's kick back and relax for a minute with some Kidman.
