## 1946

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19461101-1606782877.jpg)

This is so curious. I wonder if her face is in shadow so that it focuses on the "fashion for three generations" and not on which generation is actually wearing it. But she's not hidden THAT much.

## 1946

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19461115-1606782884.jpg)

Horrifying. Get that nice stuff off that terrible bird.

## 1947

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19471101-1606782889.jpg)

It cracks me up that Vogue is like, "Oh, screw the dude. HE DOESN'T MATTER. DON'T EVEN WASTE THE PAINT."

## 1947

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19471115-1606782895.jpg)

Add some blood spatter and this would be a good Agatha Christie cover.

## 1948

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19481101-1606782901.jpg)

Well. Doesn't get any more clear about the male gaze than that headline.

## 19481115-1606782907

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19481115-1606782907.jpg)

This woman reminds me of Kate Walsh.

## 1949

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19491101-1606782913.jpg)

The shape of this cover is so beautiful. I love the space. It doesn't feel claustrophobic at all, but it still gives you plenty upon which to feast.

## 1949

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19491115-1606782919.jpg)

"Give the gift of facial netting this year."

## 1950

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19501101-1606782925.jpg)

Everybody cooks, BUT does everybody leave the store with just a baguette, a pineapple, and celery? I want to know what everybody makes with that.

## 1950

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19501115-1606782931.jpg)

Okay, sure, I'll put those on my Christmas list.

## 1951

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19511101-1606782937.jpg)

Her hat looks like a tongue.

## 1951

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19511115-1606782944.jpg)

For when YOU are the present. This is the Enjoy Your Brand New Lexus of bow dresses.

## 1952

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19521101-1606782949.jpg)

My Christmas present timetable is "on Christmas," but maybe that's quaint.

## 1952

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19521115-1606782954.jpg)

This is very pretty, but I am really loving that lipstick.

## 1953

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19531101-1606782961.jpg)

"Our cover model backed out. Um. Just... draw the 1946 cover and make it brighter."

## 1953

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19531115-1606782966.jpg)

SO GOOD.

## 1954

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19541101-1606782972.jpg)

I cannot imagine ANY of this outfit surviving a party.

## 1954

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19541115-1606782978.jpg)

"Of COURSE I know how to use rubber gloves, Martin. Just look at me. Using them."

## 1955

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19551101-1606782983.jpg)

This is so dark and heavy and crowded.

## 1955

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19551115-1606782989.jpg)

This model is Anne St. Marie and it looks like this hair was Photoshopped onto her head.

## 1956

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19561101-1606782995.jpg)

THIS year's look after 6 o'clock involves sweatpants.

## 1956

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19561115-1606783001.jpg)

I believe this is what "dripping with diamonds" means.

## 1957: Va Taylor

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19571101-1606783007.jpg)

If "the new ways to look at night" involve being softly lit and slightly blurry, well, I'm in.

## 1957: Mary McLaughlin

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19571115-1606783012.jpg)

A Dubs would sooner expire than publish a piece on fake jewels. Or at least, that's how it feels.

## 1958: Suzy Parker

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19581101-1606783020.jpg)

The angles on this are perplexing.

## 1958: Monique Chevalier

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19581115-1606783025.jpg)

Sometimes I look at these covers and then immediately try to copy the pose to see if it's comfortable. Something about the way her hand is here is just so... funky. It's DOABLE, but it's funky.

## 1959: Sara Thom

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19591101-1606783031.jpg)

The fuzziness is so strange to me. Everything ELSE on the cover is crisp, so it doesn't seem like it's just a bad scan.

## 1959

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19591115-1606783037.jpg)

Lovely.

## 1960: Dorothy McGowan

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19601101-1606783043.jpg)

That's a great dress. And a surprising hat. The U.S. certainly USED to wear hats more, but it's gone by the wayside.

## 1960: Deborah Dixon

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19601115-1606783049.jpg)

The way this is rendered reminds me of the Sweet Valley High covers. Just the style, not the actual image.

## 1961: Sondra Peterson

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19611101-1606783054.jpg)

She looks completely miserable. Maybe she took the quiz about whether or not she's a snob and did NOT care for the results.

## 1961: Sondra Peterson

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19611115-1606783060.jpg)

Hold the phone. Vogue gave away a CAR?? Vogue was Bob Barker before Bob Barker was Bob Barker.

## 1962: Sophia Loren

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19621101-1606783066.jpg)

It's crazy to me to get Sophia Loren on your cover and then obscure her this way. I had to squint.

## 1962: Sondra Peterson

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19621115-1606783072.jpg)

How many new ways to tell time can there be? Time itself is not changing how it's done.

## 1963: Jean Shrimpton

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19631101-1606783079.jpg)

"The racy new look for a woman with a car in her life." OH BOY. Vogue has discovered being a motorist.

## 1963: Jean Shrimpton

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19631115-1606783084.jpg)

I LOVE how the U wraps around her hair jewelry.

## 1964: Audrey Hepburn

![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2020/11/19641101-1606783090.jpg)

Oh, just some movie star, no big deal.

## 1964: Astrid Heeren

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19641115-1606783097.jpg)

She looks like Kate Beckinsale to me in this bonnet. Which itself is like high-fashion headgear.

## 1965: Brigitte Bauer

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19651101-1606783103.jpg)

This has a very Barbra vibe to it, although this might have been earlier than Barbra ever had this vibe.

## 1965: Brigitte Bauer

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19651115-1606783110.jpg)

i assume this was on Bjork's mood board somewhere.

## 1966: Veruschka

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19661101-1606783115.jpg)

I laughed out loud at this hair sculpture.

## 1966: Lauren Hutton

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19661115-1606783122.jpg)

I am in top reading form today, as ever. I read these over lines as "The prettiest ways to look this season at night... and in sex" and then "WHAT ENTRAILS MEAN." No.

## 1967: Sue Murray

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19671101-1606783129.jpg)

Boy, the November Vogue hair-art people were really huffing something.

## 1967: Twiggy

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19671115-1606783136.jpg)

It wasn't until a decade later that Princess Leia taught us you have to COMMIT to the cinnamon bun look.

## 1968: Françoise Rubartelli

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19681101-1606783142.jpg)

Full credit to her for managing to stand out with so much adornment.

## 1968: Veruschka

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19681115-1606783147.jpg)

Wow. Smurfy.

## 1969: Susanne Schöneborn

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19691101-1606783153.jpg)

I haven't read that Ruth Gordon essay, but I am HERE for the headline.

## 1969: Françoise Rubartelli

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19691115-1606783159.jpg)

I am not in sync with their winter makeup looks, it seems. I'll just read about pills instead.

## 1970: Gunilla Lindblad

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19701101-1606783166.jpg)

Ask Jessica about how noise affects your health. (She has new upstairs neighbors.)

## 1970: Susanne Schöneborn

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19701115-1606783172.jpg)

The cover writer got punchy today: "The jewel splash that whips your look together."

## 1971: Karen Graham

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19711101-1606783177.jpg)

Those earrings ARE dazzling, it's true.

## 1971: Patricia Dow

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19711115-1606783183.jpg)

I read this and was like, "Why were these butlers trying to free Lance?"

## 1972: Apollonia van Ravenstein

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19721101-1606783188.jpg)

This is..... really terrible?!? It reminds me of all those covers where Jessica Simpson would have her mouth hanging open. Except here, it's not trying to be sexy; it looks like she was in the middle of telling a story.

## 1972: Raquel Welch

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/19721115-1606783193.jpg)

This was my stopping point because it's the last year they did two covers per month. Raquel is a pretty solid end to that trend. I don't even know how remarkable this one is, but it's so much better than the one two weeks earlier. SO MUCH.
