Okay, so technically, Miss Havisham just didn't leave the house after she got jilted. She didn't go lock herself in the attic -- that's Mrs Rochester #1, and what a text chain *that* would have been:

HAVISHAM: I am NEVER leaving the house AGAIN.

ROCHESTER: TELL ME ABOUT IT.

HAVISHAM: I'm also NEVER CHANGING MY OUTFIT.

ROCHESTER: You do you, girl. Now, let's talk about arson.

This is my way of telling you that BBC has done *Great Expectations* once again -- it'll be on Hulu in America -- and Olivia Colman gets to yank on that wedding gown and go for it. It looks VERY dramatic and also freezing cold:

Her photocall dress DOES have a whiff of old wedding gown, with a heavy dose of Remember That Time Kate Middleton Wore Solely Lace Sleeves For Like Six Months, and a dash of My Stylist Is Worn Out After Awards Season And This Is FINE!. Which it is!
