This was, as you probably recall, at the SAGs. The color is lovely. The cut is a SNORE. She seems to have trouble with fit, which is WEIRD to me, because her body is totally great and presumably she's having fittings for these things. Life is so confusing.

On the other hand, a girl who isn't afraid of color is a girl I want to EMBRACE WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

This gold gown -- at the BAFTAs -- is pretty great, I have to say. I'm a little worried that I'm going to be bitterly regretting her not saving this for the Oscars.

At the Critics' Choice Awards. This is ALSO a good call. She seems better at the more low-key events, but kinds of chokes at the Big Ones. PLEASE DON'T CHOKE SUNDAY, JESSICA.

Ahem.
Also, you were great in The Help. You're probably not going to win, though, and that's okay, because I think Octavia Spencer is going to win and she was REALLY great in The Help.

This was at Cannes. It's very pretty. Although who is looking at anything when Brad Pitt is wearing those looney glasses. He looks like my Uncle Earl, who owns a Used RV lot.

This is at the Venice Film Festival. It's also quite lovely. PULL IT TOGETHER FOR THE OSCARS, CHASTAIN. She actually seems to do okay when the dress code is truly formal. Looking through her files, she mostly seems to go crazy when it's a fancy event that DOESN'T require ball gowns. Maybe we'll be okay?

This was at the NAACP Image Awards a couple of days ago. Octavia LOVES her some ruching. Octavia also loves color, and Octavia's clothes always fit her perfectly, which is one of the many reasons I love Octavia.

The SAGs. As you may recall, I didn't love this. But, hey, the fit is gorgeous. And the hair is FABULOUS.

This was some Academy event and THIS I don't love. It looks a little bit like it's made from recycled tire treads? Points for the eco-friendly. And for her entertaining expression in this picture.

This is the BAFTAs and UGH. I don't like this either. She looks like she's wearing a Swiffer.

Okay, phew. Better. Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, thank you for restoring my equilibrium.

The Globes. I thought this was a slam-dunk. SLAM-DUNK IT SUNDAY, OCTAVIA.

In writing this post, I learned that Bérénice Bejo had a baby six months ago. This dress is fabulous. And, apparently, so is her training regime.

Here we are at the BAFTAs, and I think I speak for all of us when I say: YIKES.

Yeah, this was a screening that took place less than a month after she had a baby. Is someone writing a book called French Women Never Look Tired? Because I need to buy one.

This, at the SAGs, is a little wah-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, as Tyra would say. I suspect she may look underwhelming on Sunday, clothing-wise. FACIALLY, she always looks gorgeous. And they're a very cute couple.

And here we are at the Globes. I mean, pretty -- right? Pretty, but perhaps not splashy enough for a nominee. You're FRENCH, lady -- call Karl Lagerfeld and get the home team on the case.

Next up! Here we've got Melissa at the SAGs. I thought this was excellent on her.

And here she is with SHAUN WHITE HOODIES AND DENIM at the Globes. I feel like this is...fine. It's fine! It's good. The color is nice. SWHAD looks smooth. I love them as a couple, honestly.

This is at Critics' Choice, and I think it is SWELLEGANT.

I HATED this when I saw it on the Emmy Awards, but I hate it with less of a boiling rage right now. I mean, it's not good. But that was MONTHS ago. So many other terrible outfits have happened since then.

Also, Janet McTeer never attends anything. Other than this, at the SAGs.

And this. At the Globes. I guess we can anticipate that she will....black? With sleeves? Oh, Janet McTeer, you are a MYSTERY.
