Oh, Olivia. Her rambling speeches are very entertaining to me -- I GENUINELY think she did not expect to win this, even though most people figured she was the only likely challenger to Glenn -- and I like that she has quirky fashion taste. This would've been better without the random boob scarf, though. It looked cumbersome when she won, and it's just... it looks so bad. (Her husband, however, is a silver fox.)

The colors to me just do not look nice together, and that green IS fabulous. And now she's going to have to remember this gown forever. I hope SHE liked it. (Presumably she did.) But when she wins her inevitable raft of Emmys for The Crown, I hope she doesn't go down this street again.

As I said for Cosmo, there are easier ways to add sleeves to a dress. Like, for example, designing them, and then sewing them on.

Elaine did some of the TV coverage (she's best known for running Teen Vogue for two years, which I believe coincided with its rise in prominence for really good journalism). I really like this dress; the texture is so neat.

Oh, noooo. No. Okay. Charlize has tried something new here, and while it's good not to fear change, I think a little healthy skepticism of it might have paid off here. That looks terrible on her, it has Prada Boob Dart Syndrome (come on, Dior, don't catch that disease!), and... sigh. Her makeup is cool, I guess? And her jewels are gorgeous, but... sigh.

The open back does not particularly help. Hilary Swank did all of this better long ago, in darker blue.

This IS admittedly a great Vuitton. It is an eco-conscious design using ethically and sustainably sourced materials, and it's better than most of what LV does, so maybe they should do that stuff all the TIME.

She looks gorgeous. The Oscars did fine without a host, but seeing Tina and Amy and Maya Rudolph come out to open the show felt like seeing your best friends. It was a sigh of relief and a strong opening.

I really thought she'd wear Erdem, or maybe Gucci because she was at the show just a few days ago in Milan. She did NOT. SURPRISE. This doesn't look like a Rodarte, but I honestly am not sure what DOES look like a Rodarte anymore, because they seem to be doing a lot of custom stuff -- and in a weird way, this feels like they sized up Lucy, figured out sh loves Erdem, and did their take on it. I like it much better than I expected to, honestly.

This is also Rodarte, and... meh. Laura Dern is more interesting than this. She could have carried more of Rodarte's... regularly scheduled Rodateness.

As usual, she's one of the better-dressed TV presenters.

Guess who's pregnant! Congrats. That's one way to cushion the blow of having her show cancelled.

You can tell who got there earlier by the shadows. This is fancy. It feels like it was born on a Sofia Vergara Pinterest board. And is possibly hard to walk in; maybe I'm judging it too harshly against the SAGs gown she wore that I liked so much.

I didn't think you'd be upset at a second Jenifer Lewis sighting. This also DOES make me like Shangela's gown better, so well done, you two.
