She looks beautiful in this, but I don't think it needed the random strap. Or, maybe it DID, but the design looks snug enough that to the untrained eye it just looks like superfluousness. This layperson wants to chop it off. FREE THE SHOULDER.

I really want to know who at Team Dern first said, "Listen. Laura is going to win on Sunday. Let's give her a bra bodice that looks like a morbid graduation ceremony! And we definitely want idiots to walk up and tug on the tassels and then joke about where the butler is, right? This is the best idea we've ever had."

I am digging Diane Ladd's suit and cloud of white hair. She looked very proud. Also, on the local post-show, she got in a plug for her next project, and Laura waxed rhapsodic about it for a while. TEAMWORK.

I am IRRATIONALLY or perhaps RATIONALLY pleased with myself for calling this one. I find this to be objectively silly, and yet my heart tells me she looks great in it, or at least as great as a person can. Honestly, I applaud her for seeing a giant pink bubble and thinking, "Oh yeah, my head can survive that, for SURE," AND IT DID.

Julia apparently designed this herself, and it makes me love him that a ten-year old took him her dream gown and he said, "You know what? YES. I'm doing exactly what you asked for." She also packed a turkey sandwich in her purse. You want to talk people who are heroes? HERE IS ONE.

"Um, where is MY turkey sandwich, MARK? I HAD IT WHEN WE LEFT THE HOUSE."

This is an awesome pink, and I want to love the whole outfit. Is it the thickness of the sash on one side -- and its diagonal slope -- that's making me think the bodice is wonky?

This look is wholly sustainable, apparently, which is cool -- Jess may have said this already, but we were wondering if the BAFTA mandate came in too late to do anything about it there so people did it here instead, although honestly that's only an extra week so maybe it isn't possible and this is just a coincidence. Anyway: I love the method and the principle, but the gown is leaving me a little chilly. To me it is wearing her -- the bodice isn't the best? -- and it ALMOST feels a little dowdy somehow.

Great color, sort of banal cut. But the hair extensions look like they cost three dollars and it's killing me. There is great fake hair all OVER this town. Someone get her some that's at least been deep-conditioned.

She has like five lines in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which is why she's there -- though Lahti is always a welcome sight. I love her in Evil. I love everyone in Evil. That show is deliciously bonkers.

America was there for the final How To Train Your Dragon movie, and wrote on Instagram that this was for "my Berkian Warrior Queen Astrid. Tonight, I bring my own warrior ancestors with me, the indigenous Lenca tribe of Honduras." Her references are in the third and fourth slide of this Instagram post, and as Jessica noted, this is wise because it means the media is going to get right something that is very important and personal to her.

Sigh. Mindy looks great, but of course this is D&G, and I guess the proliferation of them again means they're out of the doghouse with stylists for real now. I am sure we have to stop clutching our pearls about it, especially as you can't throw a pebble in fashion without hitting something problematic (like the continued idealization of Coco Chanel, which I agree is super problematic and also something people stick their fingers in their ears and LA LA LA ignore), so in the end it feels like we're squawking into a void. Do we think the stars and stylists have this conversation beforehand, at least?

Alison looks amazing in this. I'm glad he went boring; she stands out that much more.
