This one... damn. It had all the ingredients of a dress I really SHOULD have loved, but it didn't click. I think the bodice was a big part of it; I had a hard time articulating why, but a big part was how high up the bodice came, I think? In the end I think it was overwhelming.

I'm surprised Valentino handed out TWO midriff dresses at one Oscars, but whatever. Law Roach said this was a Cher-inspired dress, and it makes a lot more sense once you know that, but I'm still not sure it quite clicked for me in the end. Sometimes, just because you CAN, doesn't mean you should.

I think my wish for this is that it had been a full gown. It's... very okay, with some nice elements, and didn't come together. Like a cookie recipe I once tried.

This one was divisive, and much like some of the commenters, I look at it and have a different feeling every time. But I'm just not sure.... my most recent thought is that it looks like she's wearing a black velvet column and walked there through a giant pool of soap.

If you're going to wear Gucci, maybe let it SCREAM Gucci? This is banal and bland, and the overly harsh makeup isn't helping. She is SO lovely but I don't think she and her stylist have quite hit a groove.
