Oscars 2022: Ending with the Suits

Ari was the cinematographer on The Power of the Dog, and this is a neat suit that showcases something we've seen a bit recently: that cropped style of suit coat that stops at the waist.

He looks very slick! I'm happy that Kevin got to be the Spotlight Jonas this one time. He made the most of it.

I thought it was dopey in the extreme to have three athletes introduce the Bond at 60 montage, and not anyone who has been Bond or been IN a Bond film. If pressed they could have done a comedic bit about auditioning new Bonds. This just felt desperate and weird. No one is going to watch the Oscars because they heard Tony Hawk might show up for 15 seconds in the middle. (With apologies to Mr. Hawk, whose photo I did not have.) Anyway! Shaun looks like Shaun. I will never, ever stop thinking "SHAUN WHITE HOODIES AND DENIM" when I see him. That jingle did its job.

All is well here. She always looks nice; Dune 2 will be a fun press ride from that perspective.

Rami Malek

Did any of you see No Time To Die? In this movie, I believe we are asked to believe that Rami Malek is sufficiently older than Lea Seydoux to have kidnapped her when she was a kid. Which... it's ABSURD and the makeup does not sell it. He looks fine here.

Kenneth Branagh

Was this a surprise win? It feels like it to me, although I admittedly stopped reading a lot of the punditry. I'm glad for him; it sounds like this movie was a beautiful, personal endeavor, and I'm excited to watch it.

They've been married since 1987, which you love to see in this town. Ciaran always looks wonderfully like he's JUST now thought of a saucy joke and he is gauging when to surprise you with it.

Bradley JUST woke up and realized he's in two of the nominated movies.

Bradley went with the large tie, and Eugenio, an unusually skinny one. We are through the looking glass here, people. EVERYONE's bow tie now has an opinion.

The movie cast reunions were fine, I guess, but I'd have rather spent more time on THIS year's honorees.

He seems thoroughly charming and I am just delighted that this movie won. Sian Heder was a surprise in the screenplay category, right? I think Coda got a great push from the fact that the voting deadline was so late this year.

I am sure it was a bit emotional for Elliot to come out in celebration of Juno, a movie that represents a very different time in his life. I'm also glad that nobody tried to spin it into a teaching moment, and just let Elliot be. He looks so happy.
