But I had hoped we were working up to a real piece of fashion-as-art here -- a dramatic and glitzy LOOK that we would be talking about for years to come, in the same breath as Julia's vintage Valentino and Halle's daring Elie Saab. Maybe Michelle wanted the history and not the clothes to be the subject, but real talk, we're always going to talk about the clothes so you might as well serve some major ones. I've been lukewarm on Ariana's outfits lately, though, and this has visual interest, good structure, it fits, it's sexy... In all lights, it looked terrible. Messy, flat, dated rather than retro. As you do. (The base garment... I might like to see it styled another way to know what it could be. Like, what would Gabrielle Union do? What would Margot Robbie do? You'd think I would have noticed the backdrop, but no, and that's the second time this season I've been working too fast to stop and notice the backdrop. LORDY. Anyway, at least they are still in the correct post, but with DANIEL in white this time.
