She looked so wonderful in this, and she got her standout moment -- not that she didn't look good other times on the press run, of course not, but Margot-as-Barbie was the star and on this night it got to be America and that is LOVELY. She really, really rocked this.
Andrea Riseborough in Loewe
This may be controversial. Hear me out: Her tastes are very quirky, but last year, presumably due to the controversy surrounding her nomination, she dressed like she wanted to blend into the walls. I like this because it feels like a return to herself, but not in SUCH an outlandish way. Like, she saved the amoeba for Vanity Fair, and that's as it should be.
Anya Taylor-Joy in Dior
There's a reason Dior has been bringing these styles back from the archives; they're undeniable.
Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga
This is apparently the first time Balenciaga has recreated anything from its archives -- in this case, a 1951 dress, albeit with some changes. I know not everyone loved this, but oh my, I do. Andrew Mukamal, her stylist, really has a way with recreations. Perhaps a slim necklace? But this is thoroughly dreamy to me.
Catherine O'Hara
This is not the most creative dress, but one of you essentially said that she was the one person who made you exclaim out loud, and it IS true that she looks flawless top-to-tail.
Eugene Lee Yang in Walter Collection
It's big, it's beautiful, it's bringing attention to a movie -- Nimona -- that people might not otherwise have found, and IT'S SECRETLY PANTS.
Florence Pugh in Del Core
Of the two dresses with straps that intentionally don't sit down -- the other being Emily Blunt's -- Florence's works better for me because the shape relates carefully to a) the bodice, and b) the necklace she chose. It feels far more sculptural than Blunt's, and I think this whole ensemble works delightfully on her.
Gabrielle Union in Carolina Herrera
I like the creativity here. You like the skirt, you like the minidress but it's too short, BOOM, put them together and it completely sings. I don't even typically like peplums, and this has the effect of one, and it still sings.
Greta Lee in Loewe
Loewe did a pretty good job this season proving it can do glamorous work, and not just stuff that involves stapling inflated balloons to people's boobs. I appreciate that, and Greta has been a fabulous muse for them.
