We've seen a lot of stuff "inspired by" older designs, this one being a 1991 outfit. I wonder if that's Chanel's new designer trying to get familiar with the archives while figuring out how to drag this brand into the now. I'm not sure it needed the metallic cage, now OR then?

Elle hit the carpet first, so this was technically Sarah Burton's first creation in her new position at Givenchy -- or, the first we've seen in public -- and it's quite good. Revolutionary? No. Elegant and a wise choice for a reboot? Yes. It gets my hopes up.
