As Marchesas go, I really like this one. Actually, if I'm being honest, as dresses in general go this is very nice. My main issue is that it appears to be sitting too low, as many a strapless dress does. Most of the time, that ends up making a lady look smaller-chested than she is, or droopy and squished, but credit to Olivia for appearing to dodge that bullet. She might be pulling off a dress that should, by all rights, be in danger of FALLING off. Well done.
However, her makeup really works -- that red lip is lovely. I almost never like her makeup. Who am I?
And then this is the Versace. And it's gorgeous, and sexy, and she probably felt like the hottest lady in the house wearing this because it is a gown that has zero room for error, and her body isn't serving any. But also maybe a touch too much. This would still be stunning if the slit went four inches lower and not so much around the front.
ESPECIALLY because there is ALSO a billowing, wide-open, delicate back and some sideboob. We don't always have to do ALL the sexy all at ONCE, you know. We can save some of the sexy for another time. It's not going anywhere. It's not busy. It's not a library book that's due to somebody else in three days. Take your time with the sexy.
Seriously, imagine if this dress had a lower slit, covered the sideboob, and came up a touch higher in the back without the hanging strips. It'd be intricate in the right ways and simple in others, without serving her all up at once. I do applaud her, though, for scraping off that red lip and replacing it without a trace that it was ever anything else. Bless the professionals.
