When Kerry got out of the limo, E! showed her for a full twenty seconds trying TWICE to wrestle the bodice into place, and then soliciting help with it. But you'd never know it from seeing her in the pictures. Great color, lovely lady, and her hair looks awesome. Parenthetically, I'm so glad the Olivia Pope Flip wigs are a thing of the past, because they were getting really, really distractingly immobile.

The dress also looked killer on stage, which is big when you're presenting. I keep wondering why she hasn't hosted Saturday Night Live yet, because Scandal seems ripe for the parodying. She's on an ABC show, sure, but she was ALSO in Django Unchained, which should have canceled out the rival-network thing.

This Giambattista Valli uses the same pattern in its skirt as Julianna Margulies' Emmy dress. I like this execution better -- the little here goes a longer way, so to speak. The top seems to have an overlay, creating the illusion that it's a totally DIFFERENT pattern; I think it's effective. I love it. YOU WIN, OLIVIA POPE.

What I can't tell is if the wacky shoes were one flourish too much. I like them, but maybe with a simpler outfit? Then again, in the full photo, I wasn't mad at them, so maybe I just need to crack open another Diet Coke and chill. Or chill another Diet Coke and crack. Both.
