Aunjanue had this made for her by Versace, and I think it's wonderful. She was one of only two orange dresses and she owned every inch of it. I would have loved to see her win, but the problem is, I also didn't want Ariana DeBose to NOT win, and then you introduce the Kirsten Dunst of it all, and it's three people I was rooting for who couldn't all win unless we had an epic tie.

Jax stands for Jacqueline, her late mother (and it is also her nephew's name). She asked Donatella to embroider this onto the dress so that her mother was there with her.

Certain as the sun // rising in the east // tale as old as time // song as old as rhyme // Maya's in a caftanic treat. (I love this.)

So I just realized Paul Thomas Anderson reminds me of my least favorite sports talking head, Colin Cowherd.

This is a knockoff of Michelle Williams's Vera Wang, right?

Queen Latifah was there?!? She is charisma personified. Did I miss her doing something somehow? I do have a cold -- or is it Covid? WHO EVEN KNOWS NOW!! -- so it's possible. She looks great in this. I think the robe part integrates better into the look on her left side, where she's posing with her hand on her hip, than on the other. The pose helps.

Where did she even FIND chartreuse bedsheets?

I cannot believe they didn't have a Getty photographer contracted to shoot Beyonce's performance (which I assume they pre-taped).

Here is a slightly closer shot of Bey? But the photog was taking a picture of the giant screen inside the Oscar auditorium, so for a better resolution, try Bey's Instagram. Her face looked great. It is a testament to the lighting that a person can stand around THAT much chartreuse and not look like they are slightly nauseated or jaundiced.

I read on Twitter -- I can't remember where now -- a rumor that Lena and Cynthia Erivo might be dating? No one seems to know, but Lainey had something on it ages ago, and they've been spotted occasionally, per the Internet... If it is true, then please can they start walking the carpet together and doing Fashion Power Couple stuff. It would be epic.

I enjoy Regina a lot, but this was undercooked. She changed out of it almost immediately, to host the show, so there's that. Brown is the trendy hue right now, but that bodice... It's nobody's best work.

And while we are here! Megan came out and sang "We Don't Talk About Bruno," which presumably got on the telecast (despite not being nominated) because the kids love it and now it's a radio hit. Amusingly, I had never heard it before, so I sincerely had not been talking about Bruno and I think I need to see it in the context of the movie. I am not sure what to make of this, except that it's not very Disney? It might have been more of a Grammys outfit.

This doesn't fit the color story, but we're here now with Encanto, so let's roll with it. Stephanie and Diane both changed; everyone had on very frothy colors, and the whole thing was bright and lively and refreshing, even if I didn't understand the plot.

And more! Luis's suit is quite dashing.
