Nooselander

This was a nice bit of direction, as we panned out and then down to Jamie making his way to the prison for a farewell visit. He paid off the guard, and then just walked right in and hung out with Hayes. Could've slipped him anything, honestly. HOW ABOUT A SHIV, JAMIE!? But he didn't.

Layerslander

I just wanted you to know that all of Claire's layering has not lessened my yen for winter. YES, even the arm-warmers.

Hayeslander

Poor Hayes. We seriously hardly knew ye, but the glimmers of love in his face as he tries to face his fate with courage REALLY GOT ME. LOOK AT HIM. He's KIND. If only he had been more careful with his drunken wang.

Snifflelander

And then Jamie's attempts at a smile really got me, too. His face was trembling. Or maybe that was my face.

Grufflander

His pal insists upon singing Hayes a proper farewell. He seems a decent fellow. I hate for him to die.

Choruslander

The pub scene in Wilmington is VERY sympathetic to the Scottish dead, which is nice. EVERYONE gets up and sings by the end.

Traumalander

Ian is sort of a dope, it's true, but John Bell is SO affecting in this scene. Muffin. I'm sorry the witch made you do black-magic nooky.

Bonnetlander

And here is Mr. Bonnet. Their first clue that he's Up To No Good should have been the aggressive way he tried to be charming, throwing his arms open and grinning. Do you trust this man? No. You do not. Especially not when you already know he's killed people.

HatManLander

No, SERIOUSLY, y'all. He gesture WIDE. He's performing, Claire! SEE IT.

Evillander

See how quickly he shifts into calculating mode, though? Ed really was very solid in this role. He looked charming and then CREEPY AS HELL within seconds of each other.

Timelesslander

I just wanted you to see that they are BARELY bothering to age Claire and Jamie anymore. I'm not mad at it, but it DOES make it jarring when I remember they're supposed to be Getting Up There.

Ecstasylander?

Can someone please tell me why Jamie's O-Face looks like he's doing challenging math?

Viewlander

And, a little morning-after treegazing.

Rubylander

Jamie has the ruby set as a pendant for the sale and is all, "SIGH, we only had enough for it to be so PLAIN," and dude, that doesn't seem plain to me. It looks GOOD. Can we keep it, Jamie? Please?

Wiglander

I just thought you'd like to see some of the other costume and accessory work, since we didn't get a good hard look at any of these people and yet each of them took a lot of effort.

Diamondlander

And look at the necklace on THIS lady. Not too shabby. I hope she didn't sell it.

Lechlander

The actor playing Baron Penzler -- the ruby buyer -- does a hilarious job of letting his eyes CONSTANTLY flick to the gem and then oh-so-carefully to her cleavage. He's so slimy; it was perfect.

Au Revoirlander

Bye, Fergus and Marsali! I assume baby Dawson will be coming for a visit to Jamie's and Claire's future homestead. Fergus, lest it go unsaid, you are a DISH.

Hatlander

Ian, you look like a scarecrow in that hat. ABORT.

Rollolander

WHO'S A GOOD FLOOFY BOY THOUGH.

Scenerylander

What miserable views as they plod along to River Run.

Cabinetlander

We were denied the cabinet porn I had hoped for -- a nice clean shot of the opened chest, full of bits and bobs for Claire to do her work -- so this will have to do. It must have been SO fun for the props team to assemble. She's got all kinds of instruments and potions, AND a microscope.

Sneerlander

Is it just me, or has the Dread Pirate Bonnet added some nighttime eye makeup?

Banditlander

I want to spare you all the Woman In Peril scenes; it's actually pretty wrenching, and for all the stuff Claire has seen in her life, Caitriona Balfe throws herself into this and is fully quaking with fear. I mean, I wouldn't much care for staring down this dude's barrel EITHER, so.

Sobslander

And as she coughs up the ring, you genuinely feel like Caitriona can't breathe. Her voice-over work is like a sleep aid, sometimes, but she's dynamic on camera.
