Jamie using a spyglass is almost as good as Jamie in glasses. What I appreciate is that, when you see through it to what he sees, there are scratches on the lenses. It's a nifty touch of realism.

"You're reacting to THIS stone? Maybe if I just sort of fondle it and walk menacingly toward you, it will help?... No? Huh."

Let us remember Otter Tooth in better times, when, okay, yeah, he still was not exactly HAPPY, but he also was not being beheaded.

"Sorry, Mom. I kinda failed Sneak Attack in training camp."

"CLAIRE! It's YOU? UNDER THAT HEADBAND? CAN WE TALK ABOUT IT?"

"UNCLE JAMIE I AM GOING TO MISS MAKING ALL THESE SILLY FACES AT YOU, HITHER AND YON."

"Aye, Young Ian, I'll miss it too. I dinna how I small live wi'out it."

"YOU MUST, UNCLE JAMIE. BE STRONG WITHOUT MY FACE. MAKE MY FACE YOUR FACE."

"Aye! How's this?"

Rollo approves. Goodbye, Rollo. You really are a fine-looking dog.

I'm so sad that this montage was not easily screen-shottable. This gives you a MILD sense of how it felt to see Ian leaping and twirling through the mob. It was... SURPRISING, to say the least.

Meanwhile, Jamie is trying way too hard to make Dogface feel like he's doing well here.

But seriously, look at the delight on Ian's face. They did give him a decent-size hero moment, where he got to smile and whoop and just generally ooze joy, and I'm glad of it.

Kaheroton approves. Somehow, this means more to me than anything. If Kaheroton likes him, we're all going to be okay.

Roger, meanwhile, is being as useful here as he ever was in the Idiot Hut.

Jamie's face here is priceless. Sam Heughan does NOT hold back

My soul makes this face at Roger ten times a week.

"Think, lad. D'ya not think it strange that we look the same age?"

"You watch your mouth."

"Think on it, lad. Look at my face and think. You even look OLDER than I."

"I canna tell a lie. You're right. Where has this gone wrong?"

Just try and tell me Murtagh didn't get off that carriage hoping for a little tumble in the sheets. He looks like a man preparing for some MACKING.

Jocasta could not be wearing more lace, and sadly, none of it is in a lingerie kind of way.

Murtagh doesn't care. He's digging on his whiskey and on the view.

But it's the drink in the face that really turned the switch. You know these two gave everyone a LOT to gossip about the next morning.

CASE IN POINT. That is a woman who is SATISFIED.

"I will NEVER be satisfied." (Yes, they do it again. And probably again and again.)

NOOOOODLECAKE. He really liked Sophie's wig.

There are a lot of sumptious textiles in this shot.

And now, an older baby, because time is passing in a relentless march.

Speaking of a relentless march, here's Roger, bringing back his stolen horse and I guess having... what, used a map Jamie drew on a napkin?

Wouldn't it have been great if they'd run right past each other.

They did not.

"I have gotten everything I want without ever saying I am sorry. I am THE BEST."

Could he not have buttoned his shirt for the trek? Which apparently took him MONTHS, given the size change in that baby? WHERE WERE YOU, DOGFACE? CAMPING IN ANOTHER IDIOT HUT? I wish he'd had a sunburn on his boob.

"Yes, hon, I'm glad you're staying, but we can probably close this now that you're home."

I officially 'ship these two. LOOK AT THIS. If Murtagh dies, it's going to be even worse for us all.

"Well THAT was unexpected."

Thank you, Jamie. We needed to see you thusly one more time.

And our last image of the season is him ripping off his classes in a reverse Caruso and intoning that he has to KILL MURTAGH FITZGIBBONS. Obviously that's not happening, but we are left with Jamie's piercing, attractive stare of agony to nurse us through a year of waiting. See you then!
