Middledistancelander

Naturally, we know only that it's 1769; we have no idea how long Roger or Brianna has been tooling around Wilmington gazing intensely into the air. Long enough that Roger's hair is still growing but that he's figured out how to keep his beard at bay.

Smoochlander

Fergus and Marsali are so sweet together. MORE PLEASE.

Dawsonlander

Dawson is an awfully cute baby. (I believe his actual name is Jeremiah?) It's too bad he will grow up to be so whiny.

Joylander

Lauren Lyle really can light up from within, as here, but also be very sassy -- like when she was in a hurry to marry Fergus and get with that sweet piece of man. I enjoy her.

Aloooooonelander

this beer is lonely my candle is lonely my lonely is lonely boo

Recognitionlander

Brianna must be dipping into Claire's trunk full of snuggly shawls and fingerless arm warmers. I have never wanted to be in a costume drama more. They look so comfortable.

Gasplander

This is Elizabeth/Lizzy, whose shock at all things is going to pair interestingly (and possibly painfully earnestly) with Ian, if my guess there is correct.

Roughlander

This is how Roger and Brianna looked to her eyes. Maybe Roger should reconsider how he grabs people when he thinks he's being sexy and urgent. Sigh.

Cabinlander

This is the exterior of the place Roger brings Brianna for their tryst -- the colonial Motel 6.

Hutlander

And this is the inside. WHERE ARE THEY? Did Roger rent this room with his ship's earnings? Why is it a shed? What IS all this stuff?

Glowlander

Brianna is ever so lovely, though.

Roomlander

I know how much we all enjoy overhead shots of fancy rooms, so here we are at the theatre with Jamie and Claire.

Fraserlander

I wonder where they keep all their finery in Fraser's Ridge. I didn't see a closet anywhere.

Fanninglander

This guy looks like someone made a really bad wax figure of Daniel Day Lewis.

Georgelander

And here we have George and Martha. He has a very kind face and a fancy coat.

Handfastlander

It's convenient that this random sex room Roger found has a fireplace and tons of wood. Not just euphemistic wood, either...

Hearthlander

... ACTUAL WOOD. Seriously, can this actually be where he's staying? WHAT IS THIS PLACE, and why didn't anyone walk in when they heard all the hand-farting?

Naillander

I know the dirty fingernails are all part of the ambiance and the authenticity, but I still twitch when I see Roger using them to caress Brianna's mouth. I just want to tell him to wash up first please and thank you.

Sexlander

I will spare Sophie Skelton one more source of close-ups of her bare bum and nipples, which were very enthusiastically featured all OVER this episode. We saw more of those than of Murtagh or Fergus. Or Marsali. They might need their SAG card.

Theatrelander

I don't blame the Washingtons for leaving. This looks like a shitty play.

Surgerylander

Only Claire Fraser could perform an emergency operation with minimal tools and only alcohol to sanitize, and not get a SINGLE SPOT on her white dress (or protective cloth).

Outlawlander

Murtagh, please do not deny Fergus a hug ever again. He needs it. Also, don't die. Much obliged.

Ragelander

Fortunately, Brianna gets to be clothed for her argument with Roger, in which Roger once again goes Full Roger all over the place.

Snarllander

Oh PUT YOUR SCOWL AWAY, you lame whiner.

Bonnetlander

LOOK AT THIS MEAN MEAN FACE ON THIS MEAN MEAN PERSON. Outlander has a lot of trouble with casting, historically, but he's really been super.

UGHLANDER

I mean, look at him. I can't remember if this is before or after he raped her, but he puts on this veneer of charm both times and it's so icky and so absolutely right for this villain.

Woundlander

Oh, Brianna. The look on her face when we rejoined her, and she slowly got up from the table... I am not a fan of relying on rape as a plot twist, but that doesn't mean this wasn't also very sad and affecting and realistic.

Exitlander

Sniffle.

Outlander recap: The Ballad of Brianna
It's a happy one, until it absolutely isn't.
