Shocklander

Props again to Sophie for this scene. Also, a commenter last week said that apparently they DID shoot the rape scene and then in the edit decided to reframe the sequence to be about the bystanders' inaction, and... I echo that commenter in saying how VERY hard it must be as an actor to put yourself through that kind of a scene and then have all of it thrown out.

Lizlander

Lizzy is nothing but nice and supportive to Brianna, and she gets shot down for her trouble. I understand Brianna being Not In The Mood Right Now, but if we'd ever seen them having any kind of bond or interaction then we'd at least know where they stand with each other before this pivotal moment.

Millinerlander

Oh, Bonnet, you craptastic chapeau. He's practically doing finger-guns here.

Dishlander

Reader, I cannot tell a lie: I was really into how they shot and lit Roger in this scene.

Motellander

I am also very impressed with these accommodations. How much money did Old Ian GIVE her, anyway? Does no one in Outlander live in a decepit, basic hovel? Well, except for John Quincy Myers, WHEREVER HE IS.

Facelander

Lizzy is going to be a great match for Ian. The two of them are going to spend all day just making elaborate facial expressions at each other.

Siiiighlander

Brianna barely tolerates Lizzy's long story, which I both understand, and resent on Lizzy's behalf. She just swooped in and saved the day through total happenstance. At least THANK her.

Whaaalander

"Seriously, girl, all I ask is that you let me tell a story that's five times longer than it needs to be. THAT'S NOT A LOT."

Whizzlander

Such a magical first contact between father and daughter.

Wetlander

And then Sam did this with his face, and I was ALL IN and realized I was clutc

Germlander

"Okay but where was your hand before this?"

Weeplander

"Dinna fass, Brianna. Germs are too aroused by me to live long."

Relieflander

"Oh thank god I thought I was going to get pink eye."

Huglander

And then here I realized I had been grabbing at my chest. Sniff.

WTFLANDER

Claire's expression is gold. She drops her basket and just beelines right for Brianna, who runs to her too. There is more hugging. Caitriona Balfe's eyes bug out of her head. It's great. Also, let's give it up to Claire for still looking freaking great in her sweater wraps. I want to do this with my scarves.

Specslander

I would never deny you Reading Jamie.

HEYYYYLANDER

Please let's enjoy Ian's journey from amusement at the sight of this comely stranger...

GULPLANDER

... to shock and awe that he has a cousin...

WHEEEELANDER

... to possibly wondering if it's okay to mack on your cousin, but mostly being happy to meet people because you are a giant puppy dog of a human.

Rollolander

Lizzy: *drool* Rollo: Oh, please. Close your mouth.

Famlander

In this shot, I realized that Sophie is actually pretty decent casting... for the child of Cait and Tobias Menzies. I can sort of see that combo in her, can't you? Unfortunately that isn't helpful for the matter at hand. I do like that they've put so much are into making sure these two ladies have wigs that look linked by DNA.

Foxlander

YOU MISCHIEVOUS IMP, YOU.

Hmmmlander

"George Washington, really, neat, okay, gonna sleep, bye."

Curllander

I wish my hair could do this. Do I need to time travel back to 18th century America? I would be SO BAD AT IT, is the problem.

Dadlander

Here's another issue: While Sophie did actually look so young and vulnerable in much of this hour, she and Sam do not have a father/daughter chemistry. He seems like her big brother. And because they don't really let us watch the build any chemistry before forcing some of these conversations, it all lands a bit weirdly.

Agonylander

Poor Brianna. Sophie was again quite good as she unfairly blamed herself for the rape.

Horrorlander

And Cait looked the whole time like she wanted to vomit all up in Stephen Bonnet's face. LIKE HE DESERVES.

Seedlander

Lizzy and Ian aren't even an item yet and they've already started to look like each other, to me.

Doomedlander

Roger, I'm not gonna say you're getting punched BECAUSE of the pants, but they definitely aren't helping.

Clocklander

Just in case you wondered what it looked like when Jamie wound up and decked him. I will spare you his face, since I know we'll see the swollen recovering version next week. It was mashed up and bleeding and pretty traumatic and I decided that might not be something we need to look upon in a freeze-frame.

Simmeringlander

Instead, let's look at Jamie's breathless fury, and the fact that he just pounded a man within an inch of his life and yet his bangs are unmarred. Is the colonial American air infused with hair product?!?
