I love Lauren Lyle. The way she crosses her arms and raises her eyebrows at everyone is EXACTLY the reaction I would have to almost all of them, too. Bless you, Marsali. You should be the boss of them all.

Someday Marsali might GO to Boston and be like, "Uh... where is all the penicillin?!?"

Sam Heughan just really, really, really can work the costumes of the period.

And an extra thumbs-up to Fergus, who looks adorable as ever. I look forward to the day that will probably NEVER come when this show makes Fergus and Marsali a bigger focus.

Brianna's wig is RESPLENDENT here. That is the hair of which dreams are made. How dare she wrangle it so well in a time before hair products?!?

But her vest poking out from under the belt looks a bit too much like someone made it from the literal ass end of some cargo jeans.

"Hey everyone, I'm a minor character with a big rifle! This seems like a great, safe idea for me!"

"I'm a major character and it's not a SUPER idea for me, either."

"So guys, what are we going to do with all thse wigs from when Fergus was little? Should we -- OH WAIT I KNOW."

This is the death shack. Apparently it's actually a trading post -- Beardsley's Trading Post, per the Outlander Wiki -- and at some point it becomes robust once more. But, not now. And mayebe not ever in this TV series.

If this man came to my door, I would also probably let him into my house.

"GET YOUR HOT FACE AWAY FROM MY HORCRUX SHED."

That this dude turned out to be alive REALLY feels like perhaps the makeup department overshot in these scenes.

This woman, whose sons Roger takes for the militia, was super jarring to me. She has complete Modern Face. This is a woman who has allowed her children to lie to her about where they've been, and is about to mic drop that she tracked their iPhone.

But LOOK AT THIS BABY.

LOOK AT IT AGAIN. It might be your last time.

This actor must have enjoyed his time. Ages in the hair and makeup chair, only to lie down and groan and blink three times. (He did let some tears come out occasionally. He was not a bad crypt keeper, at all. But I like imagining him bounding up and being like, "I HAVE AN IDEA. Flashback scenes!!!"

When Jamie fires the gun, the show runs with the typical "and then all the birds flew overhead" trope. AND THEN SOME. It went on for so long and with so many birds. So many, many birds. THAT is your horror movie, right there.
