Pointlander

It was hard to get a grab that showed just how bad this wig is on him, but... BAD. It has a whiff of the man bun about it -- like, you fear for one cold moment that it IS a man bun, and then he turns around, and no, it's just a terrible cut.

Schmooplander

I maintain that this doesn't make sense in the show's timeline. Books, different story. Literally, in many ways. Also THE HAIR.

Silencelander

This is the footage treated as a silent film, which they treated well. But one big reason it didn't work for me: Every other silent-movie-style scene was from Roger's tortured recollections. This one, though, just sat there at the top of the hour and was from nobody's point of view -- certaniy not Roger's, because he was unconscious for some of it. There wasn't enough internal logic for this, basically, and I don't think the hour needed it right here at the top; we already understood well enough from dialogue the silent movie connection.

Gloomlander

Roger makes this face for the entire hour. There is one entire scene where Brianna sings to Jemmy, and he sobs, because IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MEEEEE. It was a downer, and not in a way where I felt emotionally connected to him.

Wiglander?

This felt like a new and worse wig to me, but when I went through the episode again to get the screen grabs, I dcided maybe I had overreacted and it's just her standard-issue bad wig.

Weaklander

THAT is all Murtagh gets?!?

Oglelander

Drink in John Grey. Drink him in like a tall cocktail on a hot day.

IANlander

Remember when I did entire slideshows of Ian's goofy expressions? Well. You are not going to get that here. Because Ian is also horribly depressed in this hour.

Stoiclander

That, or just emotionless. I will say, though, that I thought when they brought him back they might recast him to reflect all the growth and change from his new life, but I'm THRILLED that they didn't. Because even with Ian being solemn, there was something comforting to me about seeing this actor's face.

Brolander

There was also some despondent camping, which as far as I'm concerned is the only kind of camping there is, which is why I don't do it.

Jumplander

Don't tease us, Dogface.

Outlander recap: The Ballad of the Haunted
I'm crabby about this one.
