Outlander's S2 cover
This ran a month ahead of the second season premiere, and they are straight-up leaning into what everyone wanted out of this show: less torture, more BANGING.
Here, six months later, they previewed season three even though it was a year away. It's nice and vague and muscular

This is the cover for when it FINALLY came back. Compared with the one a year ago, Sam looks... honestly just about the same, except less intense, and more lightly wind blown. There is plenty of authority and sex appeal, bless.

Cait looks nice too. Country Claire is always better to me than city Claire, which we'll get in the next batch of covers. (However, this looks more like a wig to me -- along her hairline -- than any of her hair on the actual show does.)

This is the cover previewing the third season. You can ALSO here see the wig/glue on Sam's hairline. Still: This is a cover with two hot people gazing straight into your soul, who also probably are about to have sex on a boat. That is much better advertising for Outlander's joys than the forthcoming frigid knee pat half-twist on a park bench...

There is so little heat in this photo that you could convince me they shot it separately and were digitally merged. And Cait particularly looks like a cardboard cutout of herself.

I believe this dress might be this one? It must be a joy for the costumers to get to re-use some of these, which are both magnificent and a TREMENDOUS amount of work for just one viewing. Anyway, this photo is also terrible. Either they stylized these covers on purpose and it just doesn't work, or they got happy with the brushes. I feel like the contours and character of her face have been totally blitzed.

It amuses me that they made Cait so clean that she barely has a nose, but Sam's skin looks a bit dirty. Honestly, I think he looks consumptive here. It's something around the eyes. If you told me this is the season he gets smallpox I'd believe you.

And here is the recent one. It's very Dangerous Liaisons to me, at least on her part. Cait looks knowing and cunning and saucy; unfortunately Sam is resting his head on her bosom in a strangely sexless way.

And now we have Sam's familiar Outlander blouse and cleavage, and skin dirt. They're never happy unless it looks like he's just rolled in from living in a cave and is in plaintive need of tender loving care and a sponge bath.
