Emily Blunt in Roland Mouret

I didn't think that giant tulip sleeve was going to work for me, but this really does look elegant. It's basically the actually well-made and non-ridiculous version of Katy Perry's red Stella sack.

Marina De Tavira in Michael Kors, Yalitza Aparicio (in Adeam)

The Roma ladies look generally splendid. I'd nitpick Marina's a tiny bit by requesting a hoik an a slightly higher hemline in order to pair it with those shoes but Yalitza's orange gown is excellent.

Regina King in Valentino

This is so phenomenal. It's the dress cousin of J.Lo's dramatic poncho.

Linda Cardellini in Monique Lhuillier

That's beautiful, too, but also feels like a knockoff take on some of those Oscar de la Renta butterfly dresses -- you know, like the one Meghan Markle wore.

Olivia Colman

This feels a bit heavy on her? I like the color, obviously. I'm VERY curious whether she can emerge on top in her category of Lead Actress, because yes, she plays the Queen, but it doesn't feel like a lead role or like it's her movie; The Favourite very much belongs to Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone and they drive the action.

Melissa McCarthy in Daneh

I wish for a lipstick in a warm hue, but I like the general look of this. But, is it secretly pants?

with Richard E. Grant

IT IS. IT IS SECRET PANTS.

Lucy Boynton in Emilia Wickstead

Okay, I quite like this, but would not have gone with silver shoes. I might've picked a color, like... fuchsia.

Glenn Close

She looks nice and stylish, though of course I also do wish for colorful accessories to ward off the gloom.

Lorna Luft

I know she's Liza Minnelli's half-sister and has acted in a whole mess of things, but to me she is Paulette from Grease 2, always and forever.

Mahershala Ali

I decided not to make you wait until the end.

Rami Malek

Best-dressed man, though. For sure. I LOVE that suit.

Eileen Davidson

If she wasn't there to accept a lifetime achievement award for playing Kristen/Susan/Thomas/Penelope/Sister Mary Moira on Days of our Lives, then I don't want to hear it.

Laura Harrier in Cushnie

YAY, we've gotten her out of Louis Vuitton. It's much better and just needs a cuter clutch. Parenthetically, I read an interview with her in which she said she takes a drink before events because the red carpet makes her nervous and thus she suspects she's mildly drunk in all her photos. This explains a lot to me.

Bradley Cooper

Sure, why not.

Jennifer Tilly

This feels like a black dress that came with its own sticker pack.

Spike Lee and Tonya Lee

Her coat is SO COOL.

Adam Driver, Joanne Tucker

He looks ecstatic, as usual.

Gary Oldman, Gisele Schmidt

WE MEET AGAIN, OLDMAN.

Viggo Mortensen

Viggo Mortensen keeps turning up at awards season and I never have ANY IDEA what movie he was in.

Christian Slater

And I never know what Christian Slater is doing anywhere, but hey, I don't begrudge him an invitation. I suspect he was there to give something to Rami Malek?

John David Washington

He looks groovy but it might be a smidge tight.

Timothee Chalamet

Timmeeee is growing his hair back out, and I long for the shorter cut.

Suzanne Somers

WHY NOT.

Palm Springs Was a Golden Globes Sampler Platter
