The workmanship on these is amazing. Couture Week really does bring home how high fashion can be art. (And when lines that are primarily ready-to-wear, like Monique Lhuillier, move to Couture Week, it really highlights the differential between couture and ready-to-wear.)

As I mentioned earlier, for some unknown reason Monique Lhuillier decided to show at Haute Couture week instead of NYFW and I just don't get it. This is very, very pretty -- if wallpaper-y -- but Monique tends to be a little derivative in general and placing yourself in direct comparison with some of the heaviest hitters of the fashion world seems like a dangerous proposition for that brand.
