Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

This skirt would be very pretty with a simpler, perhaps solid-colored top, so that the pattern can stand apart better. It's too China Doll this way for me.

The dress is fine, but the coat with it is hilarious drama. I DREAM of someone sweeping onto a red carpet in that sucker. Sarah Jessica Parker has the stones. And the legs.

A bit too clumsily twee.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

This is another idea that's a bit intense head-to-toe. It's the type of thing someone might bust out at Cannes, where Intense Head-To-Toe is basically the dress code.

Ditto. Lily Collins has twice worn this kind of royal blue-over-nude scheme, so maybe she'll go for the three-point play.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

How thoughtful of Valentino to produce a long AND a short, to illustrate that a dense pattern can be effective with less of it. I hope you liked Adele's carpet dress (more and more, I do, actually), because that embroidered-type fabric is present again.

I like this. So would... oh, Michelle Williams, maybe? She's got great legs, when she dares to bare them.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

This show is a LOT of super prim silhouettes.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

That skirt is gorgeous. Actually, the whole thing is okay -- it's a BIT Eau de Pinafore, but I'd be curious to see if it can work.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

A nice color for a nightie.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

Even MORE prim. The one on the left is the most likely to show up unaltered; the middle one looks like maternity-wear. I could see them sticking Hailee Steinfeld in the one on the far right.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I will say that I prefer Valentino's flowers in tapestry form, to those horrid duvets they stuck on everyone last year.

Lady Edith is going to look so nice in this at her wedding, after Mr. Bates helpfully murders her beau's crazy wife for him. Runner up: Taylor Swift.

Ugh. Chloe Sevigny?

If Carrie Diaries gets enough traction to net her some Valentino, I'll say AnnaSophia Robb for this, since she recently wore something not too far removed.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

That skirt reminds me of royal robes. Or 101 Dalmatians. Or both. Maybe one of the various Emmas would wear this -- it's youthful and experimental and unique but not quite weird.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I can't tell if the one on the right is a coat or a dress, but it's cute.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

That one on the left could be interesting. I don't see Hathaway in it, though -- maybe Mia Wasikowska could give it a whack?

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I do not care for this.

These iterations of that style are more appealing to me. That one on the left, I look forward to seeing somewhere. Can we get Zosia Mamet a stylist?

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I'm not mad at this one either.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

Oh dear God. THIS is Hathaway's penalty box.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

Or there's always a good, old-fashioned hideous pleated jumpsuit.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

Curious neckline. Um... Winslet? For the left side one, that is.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I like the colored leather and lace, but again, it's VERY young, so I'm assuming it's for the Steinfelds and Victoria Justices and Saoirse Ronans of the world.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

No thanks. These actually remind me of that confused jumble that Hailee S. already wore.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

So dark and shimmery. Naomi Watts?

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I unabashedly love this.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I am unabashedly undecided on this. I keep wanting to say it's not good, but then I feel like if someone noodled with it to make it a bit LESS severe, it could have a home somewhere. I'm sure Hathaway will hack off the front of the skirt or something and wear it with boots made of whips.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

I don't even know. Surely people won't wear them with the collars, but... let's for fun say Michelle Dockery.

Valentino - Runway - PFW F/W 2013

This pattern is also pretty, and the most reminiscent of Adele's Grammys dress. Emma Stone would look adorable in the one on the right, and I'm guessing the version on the left will show up precisely nowhere.
