This is pretty much the oldest picture I have of her, from The Untouchables. (IMDb literally credits her as "Ness's wife" but Wikipedia thoughtfully looked up her first name, and she did indeed have one, and it was Catherine.) This was her first major role, and Wikipedia claims Brian de Palma expanded it for her, which was a boon because she was 28 and paying off student loans. Also, I keep thinking she looks like someone in this photo.... and I think the answer is that my brain is scrambled and that the person I am thinking of is, in fact, Patricia Clarkson.

1988

A year later she was in Clint Eastwood's The Dead Pool in a starring role. This has a real Junior Attorney on LA Law feel to it, but she was playing a journalist in the fifth Dirty Harry movie

2002

I don't know why, but apparently now we jump to 2002. In the interim, she was in indie stuff like High Art, and also bigger movies like Jumanji and The Green Mile, but mostly smaller fare (that you've still heard of, like Playing By Heart or The Pledge or Simply Irresistible). ANYWAY. She looks very nice and also like she's not yet a celeb who gets loaned $2 million in Harry Winston jewels. (Honestly, that sounds very stressful to me anyway.)

... and so was Campbell Scott. They DID date, judging by this photo and the sheer number of pictures of the two of them together. Her Wiki has been scrubbed of past boyfriends, but he's clearly a big one. We are totally witnessing the lipstick love affair already, by the way. (Also, the person she resembles to me MIGHT be Christina Tosi? Christina is a redhead in some ads for her off-brand cooking Masterclass, and those have been all over my Facebook.)

This is gorgeous. The colors are a little less dull in other photos -- the lighting was all over the place and I tried to pick one where the flash didn't blow her out. I'd love to see either a bracelet or a necklace with this, ALAS. (By the way, she was at the Globes here for The Station Agent, I believe. She worked A FREAKING TON in the aughts.)

I assume this is one of her piano pictures. Hell, it might end up on MY piano, and I'm not in it and I also don't know either of them. This is a little meh after the last one, but it's also fine -- it's more surprisingly samey to me, actually. But George looks dapper. Were they both single? If so, I hope they recognized the opportunity and had a torrid, emotionless affair, the kind where both of them got what they wanted and walked away satisfied, unhurt, and still friendly.

I wish I looked like this when deep in thought. Instead I just look crabby. I realize she's acting, so she's probably MAKING herself look calm, but this is so... this is the feeling I miss: a real vacation, no nighttime work, just BEING. While also looking foxy.
