That coat is CUTE on her. (He has to be freezing. It's 30 degrees in New York today. SOMEONE GIVE THAT MAN AN ATTRACTIVE OVERCOAT.)
Here's some better detailing on the nubby, bouclé texture on the coat. (With bonus gazing.)
This is probably the best lit of these shots, and I knew you'd want to really be able to examine her booties. Shooties? Footwear. They actually look a lot like a pair I have from J Crew, that are secretly way more comfortable than they look.
And. That coat. It's really cute. And if these royals posts were a drinking game, and we all had to drink every time I wrote the words, "that coat is really cute," we'd be drunk CONSTANTLY and I'd owe everyone a little piece of my liver.
In case you wanted to see a glimpse of what she was wearing underneath The Coat. (I'm pretty sure we all would have put money on "Some Kind of Dress," but those of you who took a risk on the 100-0 odds of "leopard print hotpants" are out of luck.)
Arriving in New York at night is pretty breathtaking, even when you've done it before, and this is their first visit. I feel like this photo looks a bit, "WHEEEEEEEEE NEW YORK WE CAN'T WAIT!" and therefore I dub it The Piano Picture* for day one.
(Additionally, I am in love with the very well-bundled doorman in the back of this shot. He looks very self-satisfied with how this is all unfurling.)
*The Piano Picture, in case you weren't around for the NZ/Oz Tour, is, as it sounds, the photo from whatever event that seems most likely to end up on their piano. (I guess that's self-explanatory, now that I type it out, but whatevs: It's Sunday. No one should be making their brain work today. Have some more egg nog)
I was informed there would be no pictures from this private reception these two attended (leaving the hotel like 30 minutes after they arrived; I hope everyone ate their Weetabix this morning). I should have trusted the photo pool not to let us down.
That said, if I were friends with Kate (I wonder what percentage of my thoughts begin with those words), at some point I would sit her down and be like, "I'm worried you're addicted to black lace cocktail dresses. You HAVE to stop buying them! BRANCH OUT, KATE." (Although I actually like this one fine.) And she would be like, "um, you own like 36 blue and white striped tops," and I'd be like, "WELL SO DO YOU," and then she'd be all, "touche," and then we'd gossip about Harry for like an hour and a half.
