What a good summer dress. I am trying to fill up my closet with more of those, and fewer t-shirts, just to challenge myself into being less shlubby. The shoes might be good, too. I was JUST wondering what people wear if they don't like thong sandals/flip flops of any kind. Like, say, me. Sometimes a girl needs to let her feet breathe, but said girl doesn't want to hear THWAP THWAP THWAP all the time.

I love the color of this. That elastic waist is almost impossible to wear if you have ANY superfluous belly flesh at ALL -- I know this because I have tried, and every time, I end up certain someone will ask me when my nonexistent baby is due -- but fortunately for Emmy this is an issue she does not have. Also, the shoes ARE sort of good. I don't really love feet in general, though, so I wonder if my OTHER issue on this front (that being: why should anyone have to look at my feet? My big toe is stupid) will just keep me in closed flats all summer. Aren't you SO THRILLED that I am sharing so much?

That necklace is a good choice for this. She's got a Reese Witherspoon-ish effortlessness to her daytime style.

I actually think this is quite cool, too. At first I wasn't sure -- like the overlay was unnecessary and/or looked like a tulle apron she wrapped around herself after spilling a drink on her skirt -- but the longer I look at it, the more I think it's just interesting. Considering how hella-precious Emmy used to look all the time, trussed up like a china doll, it's nice seeing her be so relaxed and naturally lovely by day and intriguingly edgier by night. I smell a retrospective coming on... once the Olympics are over, because DAMN, I am spending all my time devouring every last little bit of coverage, and learning all kinds of interesting things about team colors and sport rules and terminology that I will of course COMPLETELY forget by the time Rio rolls around in 2016.
