Teyonah Parris and Michelle Mitchenor

I had to start with this shot. First of all, you can see Teyonah's fringe-y cape situation really well, but also, it's just extremely charming.

It is a great credit to her that it took me a really long time to notice that I could see her bra. That aside, this feels vintage to me, in a way that is interesting and maybe only 85% successful? (That IS a solid B.) (I can't believe I am saying this, but I think I liked it better sans undies on the runway.)

We've seen this dress a couple of times this season already and no wonder: It is VERY APPEALING and also it's festive. She looks so great here.

I am less in love with this, and we're going to need to discuss. I actually like the beading at the top, but is the beading + the almost tie-dye pattern too much? The combo seems to be nudging the dress toward a sort of Cost Plus World Market Shower Curtain place, and while I do LOVE Cost Plus, I don't always want to wear it.

I think she made the right call putting her hair back -- and the minimal makeup is, I think, REALLY good -- but this might be too much happening.

But we are ending on an up note. She never shies from a pattern, which -- as you all know -- I DEEPLY APPRECIATE. That, plus gold shoes, and her red lip? This checks all the boxes.

Recent Fugs or Fabs: Teyonah Parris
Teyonah Parris -- whose style I always enjoy; her Emmys dress made our Best Dressed of 2015 list at Cosmo -- is currently staring in the new Spike Lee movie CHI-RAQ, along with Nick Cannon (whose style, actually, I also always enjoy), and I cannot tell you how delighted I am that she'll be making the red carpet rounds. Let's catch up with her. [Photos: Getty]
