Harry and Meghan in Auckland

As someone vaguely in Meghan's age group who grew up in the same major metropolitan area, let me inform you that this feels very It's Raining And I'm From LA to me, with the skinny jeans and the blazer and the ponytail. And the wellies are practical for walking through wet grass, for sure, but also once a Los Angeleno gets used to having dry feet in the rain, we treat this as a revelation and will wear our rainboots at the slightest provocation.

Sure! This all seems reasonable? I like Harry's coat.

Here, they're "dedicat[ing] a 20-hectare area of native bush to The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy at Abel Tasman National Park in Auckland," and this looks like a more complicated Plaque Revelation than the usual Tiny Curtains On A Tree. Also: WOW, Abel Tasman National Park is PRETTY.

What I really enjoy are photos of the royals coaching their small charges through the welly wanging. "Okay, so the trajectory of the boot is going to....the velocity...listen, we don't wang wellies in America, so I'm just going to throw this hard and hope for the best."

"Do you children know how to levitate objects? That's my first question."

"THAT'S RIGHT. I can levitate things now! Gosh, this is handy!"

I'm going to file this away under Harry Lurking Behind People/Things, a subset of royal photos that is surprisingly robust.

BABY WELLIES! I can't stand it.

This was at Pillars, and it's a great backdrop for a photo (you guys know I love a mural as much as I love a wreath). It also amuses me that Meghan and Jacinda look like they texted about what to wear this morning. "Okay, neutrals and a trench, right? Cool!"

I grabbed this pic because it was the best full-on view of what she's wearing -- which looks reasonable? She could have crazy sleeves under there, but I assume it's sleeveless -- but also because she looks like she's considering singing a medley of songs from Sound of Music.

After every one of these tours, SOMEONE writes a piece listing all the gifts they were given; as ever, I cannot wait to read it.

I do not know why this dress looks so much more body-con outside than it did inside -- it has to be the wind, right? Maybe it just rides up when she walks a bit.

The theory that Meghan's all in for neutrals in Australia and New Zealand has certainly proven true --I'm not totally sure WHY that's the color scheme. I guess there doesn't need to be a reason for everything. You could certainly argue that neutrals are generally soothingly professional -- which isn't a bad thing.

But here I think we've found the best dress of the whole tour! Well played, young lady!
