Charles and Camilla

I have to say, I think Camilla looked splendid. The dress, by Anna Valentine (then a duo known as Valentine Robinson), is perfect -- a gentle color, the light but lovely gold detailing... we've talked before about the difficult lines royal brides have to walk, but I think we can all agree Camilla's must have been the toughest. She was not exactly the bride of the people, and she was stepping yet further into the memory of someone the public lionized. I thought she made a perfect choice, fancy but not fanciful. Well... except for the headpiece.

I laugh every time I see that. It looks like she stuck wheat in her hair, which I guess would have been apt since it symbolizes rebirth? It's the one part of this that is hilariously OTT, and I have to say, my affection for its bizareness has only grown in the ensuing years.

This photo made me laugh. They both look like they're lost and don't want to admit it to the people following them.

Earlier in the day, they were married in a civil ceremony at the Guildhall in Windsor, where I also thought she looked tastefully great.

I don't know WHAT William and Hrry wre doing here. Do we assume Charles told them to go with the red ties and blue shirts? But Wills's waistcoat seems to be a DIFFERENT blue, and Harry's is that terrible tan, and Peter Phillips over there might honestly be wearing one by Garanimals. No wonder Eugenie is wearing a bucket hat she can barely see out of.

And then Zara wandered up looking like she'd just come from brunch at the pub. William may not even be looking at her, but I like to imagine he is, and he is weighing whether to pull her off to the side and suggest she sneak in once it's started so as not to upset Granny.

And Blackadder himself! Stephen was part of that series, too; there was a shot of him speaking to Rowan and for a second I was like, "Blackadder would NEVER talk to Lord Melchitt so politely!!!"

I COMPLETELY forgot that Joan attended this. I love it. Sadly, part of what you're seeing here appears to be the hat of the person behind her, but I still think she looks smashing with her giant lid. I would have LOVED to sit at a corner table with her and Camilla and just gossip the night away.

Timothy is a prolific actor, and he's married to Prunella "Fawlty Towers" Scales. I love her kicky orange outfit. She doesn't seem to have worked in a while, but he's still going.
