Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leave St.George's Chapel

I must say: I LOVED the grandeur of William and Kate's wedding at the Abbey, but given my love of this place, I find this setting to be SO ALLURING and dramatic in all the best ways. A carriage ride around a picturesque village with a GIANT MEDIEVAL FORTRESS as your backdrop? One in which you will also get to spend your first night as a newlywed? Yes, please.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle

They moved at a surprising clip in that carriage. The horses did run-throughs and were trained not to be skittish about crowd noise, but if you watch the procession once it gets to the Long Walk, there was an overhead shot in which one of the horses got COMPLETELY spooked and nearly rode sideways into the crowd. Poor thing. The rider did an outstanding job regaining control.

Royal fans gather on the streets of Windsor

What a great town. And it was full of people, but not dangerously or insanely so, which means they got to experience the love but perhaps also not be as overwhelmed as they might have in London. It still did have the more intimate feel -- by royal standards at least.

Glorious. Just stunning. Actually, looking at this from above, this is right about the moment the carriage passed us.

Another angle. So cool. What a vista it must have been for her.

And off they are back into the castle. I hope she takes a second to dig through the professional photos somewhere, so that she can get a sense of how it all looked. I'm sure it felt big to her, but from within it; this gives her an idea of it from the outside, and that might take her breath away.

That is some A-grade marching. I love when the guardsmen are out in force.
